SHADYSIDE, MD. – It’s true, the leg bone is connected to the knee bone …. Anne Arundel County Police report that the remains found in two locations in Shadyside in Anne Arundel County in October of 2017, came from the same body.

Anne Arundel Police report that on April 4, 2018, detectives were notified that a DNA analysis has been able to confirm the human remains discovered on October 18, 2017, and October 29, 2017, both contain the same DNA profile. Further examination of the remains is being completed to obtain as many physical descriptors as possible to assist with the identity of the individual as well as cause and manner of death

On Sunday, October 29, 2017, at approximately 2:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Chesapeake Avenue in Shady Side for discovered human remains. Upon arrival officers located skeletal remains on the shoreline that had washed ashore. At this time, sex, age, race, and manner of death are unknown and pending autopsy. It is believed that the remains had been in the water for a long period of time and possibly related to the remains discovered on October 18, 2017, in the same area.

The preliminary assessment by the medical examiner revealed the decedent is a Caucasian or Asian female, approximately mid-twenties to thirty years of age with an approximate height of 5’03. Further examination of the remains is being completed to obtain as many physical descriptors as possible to assist with the identity of the individual as well as cause and manner of death.
