Rodrigo Mercado Rifarace arrested for armed robbery by Fairfax County Police on April 11, 2018.

SPRINGFIELD, VA. – WHO DUN IT?  Fairfax Police report that a suspect in a robbery who saw himself and his accomplice in surveillance photos released by detectives has turned himself in.

Rodrigo Mercado Rifarace, 19, of Springfield, called the number listed in the Fairfax Police April 4, 2018, report after seeing photos from the robbery scene circulating on social media.

An investigation determined the suspects, Mercado Rifarace and 20-year-old Ariel Alvarado Camacho, of Alexandria, took the game from the victim and implied they had a weapon as they walked away.

The robbery happened in Annandale on the morning of April 4, 2018, near Patriot Drive and Heritage Drive.

Police say the crime was reported right away, and officers canvassed the area looking for any witnesses and surveillance cameras.

Detectives released photos to the public asking for anyone with information to come forward. One of the suspects reached out to surrender after seeing those photos.
