CALVERT SHERIFF POLICE BEAT / Sheriff says Roxane Briggs was sipping Oxy through a straw
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. – Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans reports that on April 2, 2018, Deputy Ridgely conducted a traffic stop in the Taco Bell parking lot in Prince Frederick. The driver, identified as Roxanne Marie Briggs, 50, of 1511 Oak Drive, Huntingtown, Md., came back as suspended.
Corporal Wilson and his K9 partner conducted a K9 scan and there was a positive alert on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a single Oxycodone pill and a straw with a white residue inside. Briggs was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Jail where she was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
Briggs will appear in Calvert District Court on May 21, 2018.
Super Crack Jessica cracked corn and she don’t care
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD – Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans notes this recent arrest on April 2, 2018. Deputy G. Gott observed a black Ford pick-up truck with its lights off parked in the roadway on River View Drive.
The Deputy made contact with the driver and the front seat passenger, later identified as Jessica Ann Dennis, 19, of 2065 Brians Way, Lusby, Md. The driver allegedly told Deputy Gott he did not have any illegal drugs on him and he could search him if he wanted to.
A search of the driver revealed no contraband. During a search of Jessica’s person, Deputy Gott located a plastic bag with suspected crack cocaine. He then picked up an empty beer can that fell out when she got out of the truck and noticed it had been modified as a smoking device and contained suspected crack cocaine residue. Dennis was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Jail where she was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
An Honest Guy Coughed Up the Drugs
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. – Police say that on April 2, 2018, Calvert Sheriff’s Deputy Mohler conducted a traffic stop on Dorsey Road near the back entrance of Calvert High School. Police say that he made contact with the occupants and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage as well as the faint odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
The three occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. Located in an outside pocket of a backpack found in the back seat was a small chunk of a green substance of suspected marijuana.
Deputy Mohler brought the backpack out of the vehicle, and without asking any questions, the backseat passenger, Michael Wayne Smith, 47, advised the backpack was his.
Located in Smith’s wallet was an 8mg Suboxone strip, which he stated he did not have a prescription for.
Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. While on the way to the Detention Center, Smith advised he had a gram of marijuana in his underwear. He was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana.
Doing the backside slide on Rt. 4 drew the attention of Deputy; driver decided she was the boss of the cop
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. – Two very strong-willed women found out that dealing with a law officer isn’t quite the same as being a snowflake in school and bullying teachers. Those high school days are over, now its time to hire a lawyer.
Sheriff Evans reports that on April 3, 2018, Corporal Moschetto observed a vehicle stopped on the northbound shoulder of Route 4 and noticed a female, later identified as Taylor Griffith, 20, of 448 Roundup Road, Lusby, Md., walking away from the vehicle towards Roy Rogers.
Griffith was flailing her arms, then dropped to her knees and rolled onto her backside. Cpl. Moschetto stopped and walked over towards Griffith. She immediately stood up, walked back to the vehicle and got back in.
Cpl. Moschetto made contact with the driver, later identified as Alyssa Michelle Bernich, of 45003 Buck Redman Road, Callaway, Md., 18, and also of Cornwall Drive in California, Md., asking her not to drive off so he could speak with Griffith.
Griffith got out the vehicle and began walking away, therefore she was detained.
Bernich exited the vehicle and walked towards Cpl. Moschetto as he was restraining Griffith. Cpl. Moschetto advised her to back away twice or she would be arrested.
She refused to back up, therefore she was also detained. Both women were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Griffith was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. Bernich was charged with Hindering and Obstruction.
Bernich was arrested for second-degree assault by Maryland State Trooper Jason Mulhearn on Feb. 26, 2018 and has a court date in St. Mary’s District Court on April 20, 2018.
