DIAMOND & SILK TESTIFY BEFORE HOUSE COMMITTEE IN WASHINGTON, D. C: Examine domination of political dialogue on politics by Facebook
Facebook labeled conservative commentators
Diamond & Silk as “unsafe” for Facebook users.Lynnette “Diamond” Hardaway and Rochelle “Silk” Richardson testified before the House Judiciary Committee on April 26, 2018 about the way that social media giants Facebook and Google put a strangle hold on conservative speech. Democrats on the committee, in constrast to leftists in the Democratic Party who shut down free speech at college campuses, suddenly became free speech advocates and cited First Amendment restrictions on Congress being able to anything about private companies like Facebook and Twitter who block or restrick conservatives and their political views.
In answer to questions by House members Diamond and Silk made these statements:
“how can we pull ourselves up by our bootstraps if you silence us?”
“It’s not fair to change the rules in the middle of the game and people are left out to dry and that’s not fair”
“No voices should be censored and this should be a platform to express all ideas.”
“Mark Zuckerberg lied, they never reached out to us.”
“Obama didn’t do anything for the black community, look at Chicago, he didn’t do anything for Chicago.”
Congressman Lieu: We can’t tell Facebook what content to censor, we can’t tell Facebook to carry Diamond & Silk, we don’t want to be like Russia and China, everyone has a right to monetize, you pay Facebook for ads, they don’t care, we have no business setting up rules for private companies, it is completely ridiculous to regulate content and not have the government intervene, it is far worse to have the government regulate content, how do we write a bill like that, this entire hearing has no constitutional point, we are not going to regulate a company for content.
When we tried the stupid Fairness Doctrine, it went into the wastebasket, intervening into Facebook and Google, we should let the marketplace regulate it.
