Top vote-getter among Democrats for Democratic Central Committee is former Chairman of the Republican Central Committee – Shane Mattingly. Mattingly ran unsuccessfully for the House of Delegates in 1994 as a Democrat and ran again in 1998 as a Republican and lost; was elected to the GOP Central Committee, selected as Chairman, ran unsuccessfully for Circuit Court Judge in 2006 and switching back to Democrat ran and lost in the race for States Attorney in 2014.  Flying the flag of convenience, in 2018, Mattingly has won with the best vote for Democratic Central Committee.
