ANNE ARUNDEL POLICE BEAT: Teen gang rounded up in wee hours of the morning as they were thieving from autos

GLEN BURNIE, MD. – What was a group of future criminals of America doing out in Glen Burnie during the wee hours of the morning?  Were they on a training run to break into vehicles and steal loose change, electronic devices or did they just find it cool to sit inside someone else’s ride.

Anne Arundel County Police report that on June 28, 2018, at approximately 3:54 a.m., officers responded to a citizen complaint of suspects tampering with and entering unlocked vehicles in the area of Glenview Drive in Glen Burnie.  Responding officers located and detained the suspects in a vehicle parked in the 300 block of 1st Avenue in Glen Burnie.  The suspects were positively identified by a witness.  During a search, the suspects were found to be in possession of various stolen items from vehicles. The suspects were arrested and charged with rogue and vagabond and theft.

Police say that Derrick Andrew Lample, 18, of 317 Arundel Road, Brooklyn, Md., was charged by Anne Arundel Officer Metcalf, along with his two criminal trainees, both of which are 17 years old, one a male and one a female. The minors were given back to their parents.  Lample was released from jail on his personal recognizance and has a trial set for Sept. 21, 2018.

 

Mugged on Green Branch Lane

Jaquan Cordell Lowe, 18, and a 15-year old male were arrested and charged with robbery. Anne Arundel Police.

GLEN BURNIE, MD. – Some muggers work in the waning daylight hours of daylight savings time. Such a robbery took place on June 27, 2018, at approximately 8:35 p.m., when officers responded to a citizen robbery in the area of Green Branch Lane and Elfin Court in Glen Burnie.

Police say that the adult male victim stated that as he was walking home, he was approached from behind by the suspects who physically attacked him and took his wallet.  Several officers responded and during a search of the area located two subjects who matched the description provided by the victim.

The suspects were detained and positively identified by the victim.  During a search of the suspects, officers located the victim’s credit cards. Both suspects were arrested and charged with robbery.

Jaquan Cordell Lowe, 18, of 302 Highland Drive, Apt. T-3, Glen Burnie, Md., was charged by PFC. Moorehouse with robbery while his robbery assistant was a 15-year-old male from Glen Burnie. As of June 28, 2018, Lowe is being held without bond and was charged with 10 criminal counts, two of which are felonies – Robbery and Armed Robbery.

Fleeing burglar not fast enough to elude flatfoots

 

SEVERN, MD. – Anne Arundel police nabbed a 15-year-old male suspect in a burglary. Police say that on June 28, 2018, at approximately 12:35 a.m., officers responded for an alarm at Quarterfield Elementary School located at 7967 Quarterfield Road in Severn.  Responding officers arrived on location and observed a suspect inside the front of the school.  As officers attempted to set up a perimeter around the building, the suspect fled out a back door.

After a short foot chase, officers were able to detain the suspect in a wooded area behind the school.  The suspect was in possession of burglary tools (mask, gloves, knife, and flashlight) and stolen property from the school (jewelry and walkie-talkie radios).  The suspect was identified as a juvenile, charged with burglary, and released to a guardian.
