MURDER USA: Victim of shooting caught a bullet and then caught a ride to ER with a friend; didn’t become a millionaire

Dante Nashaun Simmons shot dead on Short Curve road in Glen Burnie on July 2, 2018, Anne Arundel Police

GLEN BURNIE, MD. – When being shot in Anne Arundel County, there are different ways to seek emergency aid; first, one can call 911, second, one can still just call 911, or, just like on TV, a victim of a shooting just calls on a friend to transport one to an emergency room. The friend won’t be able to do anything but repeat over and over – just like on TV – ‘hang on, stay with me’ while one bleeds to death.

Such was the case on Monday, July 2, 2018, at approximately 8:10 p.m., when Anne Arundel police report that officers responded for an adult male shooting victim at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center located at 301 Hospital Drive, Glen Burnie, Maryland.

The victim had been driven to the hospital by a witness.  The victim was identified as Dantae Nashaun Simmons, a 23-year-old male from Glen Burnie.  He died as a result of his injuries.

Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives responded and interviewed witnesses who led them to a crime scene.  The crime scene was located in the 500 block of Short Curve Road in Glen Burnie.    Preliminary information indicates the suspect may have been known to the victim and that this is was not a random act of violence. That assessment of the murder is that the victim was targeted and not selected from the community at large.

Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling the Anne Arundel County Homicide Unit at 410-222-4731.  Callers wishing to remain anonymous are asked to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line 410-222-4700 or Metro Crime Stoppers.

Simmons was busted on a drug distribution charge in Ocean City, Md., in 2014 in which he pleaded guilty and indicates one part of society that he associated with prior to his violent ending.
