MURDER USA: Johnathan J. Megee charged with the slaying of the drug dealer and ex-con Shawn Johnson

SALISBURY, MD – Maryland State Police report that on August 8, 2018, fugitive squad officers arrested a suspect charged in the murder of a man shot and killed in Salisbury on June 6, 2018

The suspect is identified as Johnathan J. Megee, 26, of Salisbury, Md.  Megee was indicted by a Wicomico County Grand Jury earlier this week on the following charges:

  • -second-degree murder

  • -manslaughter

  • -first-degree assault

  • -second-degree assault

  • -reckless endangerment

  • -illegal possession of a firearm

  • -possession of a firearm by a felon and

  • -use of a firearm in the commission of a felony violent crime.

The Grand Jury indictment was handed down following testimony from a member of the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit concerning the investigation into the murder of Shawn G. Johnson, 29, of Fruitland, Md.  Johnson was shot multiple times at about 7:30 p.m. on June 6, 2018, in the 600-block of Priscilla Street, Salisbury, Md.  He later died at the hospital.

Johnathan-Megee charged by MSP with the murder of Shawn G. Johnson of Fruitland Md on June 6, 2018.
Shawn G. Johnson updated his profile photo on Facebook two days before his murder.

Megee was arrested early in the morning on Aug. 8th, in Salisbury by members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team.  He was processed and taken before a court commissioner for his initial appearance.  He is currently being held without bond.

Police say that investigators have not yet identified a motive for the murder and noted that the victim and the suspect knew each other.

Megee has lived in various locations in Somerset, Wicomico, and Baltimore Counties in recent years.

Police say more arrests may follow.

Shawn G. Johnson was pinned down for a paternity hearing on May 4, 2018, with Branch Sierra listed as the plaintiff. At the time, Johnson was a guest of the Maryland prison located at Jessup, Md. In 2017, Tatyana A. Jarmon was the plaintiff in yet another paternity action in Wicomico Circuit Court with the representation of the Wicomico County Bureau of Child Support Enforcement while Johnson was a prisoner at the Maryland Prison in Jessup. If the prison system is allowing conjugal visits, they might want to consider neutering the inmates as the taxpayers will be paying for the fruits of the inmate’s fun.

Johnson was active in many ways while at Jessup, as he was indicted on attempted murder charges for an assault which took place on May 20, 2012. He entered an Alford Plea on June 17, 2013, to misdemeanor assault and got an easy five year stretch in prison with credit given of 391 days of time served while awaiting trial.

Charged with possession of a handgun in violation of his record of a prior felony conviction, Johnson was able to make a sweet plea deal with the Wicomico States Attorney on Aug. 24, 2016, and entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor gun charge and driving without a permit which netted him three years in prison.  Since this is the Alice in Wonderland Judiciary of the Peoples Republic of Maryland, Johnson was out of the hoosegow before the three years were up and was available for his date with the grim reaper on June 6, 2018 – who visited him in the person of Johnathan Megee, so says the Grand Jury in the indictment on the murder rap.
