MURDER USA: Franklin Scott Sentenced to 50 Years for Murder of Lamont Adair

MURDER OF 24 YEAR OLD FATHER IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – On Nov. 16, 2019, after pleading guilty to first degree murder and use of a handgun during a crime of violence, Franklin Scott, 29, received a total sentence of life, suspending all but 50 years, in prison for the murder of Lamont Adair, 27, in August 2018.

On August 8, 2018, at 3:53 p.m. officers from the Seat Pleasant Police Department were dispatched to 6602 Greig Street and upon their arrival found a man identified as Adair suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m.

Video surveillance showed that Scott was later identified as the man who drove to the location of the incident and shot Adair from inside his vehicle. Scott then exited the vehicle, walked over and shot Adair several more times. He then got into the vehicle, which then fled.

According to the sentence handed down by the Court, upon release, Scott will also be on supervised probation for a period of five years and must register as a gun offender.

“I want Lamont’s family to know that there is no consolation for their tremendous suffering and loss, but I hope that today’s outcome provides some level of peace knowing that the man responsible for this tragedy will not step foot onto the streets of Prince George’s County for a very long time.” said State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy.

MURDER USA: PG Detectives Make Arrest of Franklin Scott in Murder of Lamont Adair

Homicide Unit detectives charged a man this morning in connection with the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Lamont Adair in the City of Seat Pleasant earlier this month. The suspect is 27-year-old Franklin Scott of the 500 block of 68th Avenue in Capitol Heights.

On August 8th, at approximately 3:50 pm, officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department were called to the 6600 block of Greig Street in Seat Pleasant for the report of a shooting. Officers discovered the victim outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives developed Scott as a suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals Scott was upset with Adair over a personal issue. Scott targeted Adair on the day of the fatal shooting. He is charged with first and second-degree murder and is being held on a no-bond status.

SEAT PLEASANT, MD. – Try as they may, the hoodlums of the PG County Hood will never catch up with their killing cousins in the City of Baltimore.

PG Police say that Detectives with the Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting Wednesday evening, August 9, 2018, in the city of Seat Pleasant. The victim is 24-year-old Lamont William Adair Jr. of 1002 Minna Avenue in Capitol Heights, Md.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.

Lamont Adair Jr. had a trial pending on Sept. 6, 2018, for possession of more than ten grams of pot. If Adair had an attorney, that barrister is likely rushing to check his records to be assured that his client paid in advance. Adair was also planning to leave the country next month for China to play basketball, likely after attending court on the drug charges.

Assault charges in a domestic violence case in 2016 were dropped and a peace bond dismissed in PG District Court when the victim failed to appear in court.

The 6’7” basketball player was on his way to practice when he was shot dead.
