CRAZY NIGHT IN PARK HALL!  Jens Hanson charged with blasting victim, house, and neighborhood with gunfire

PARK HALL, MD. – St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron reports that on August 8, 2018, at approximately 11:30 P.M., Deputy Tyler Westphal responded to the 47000 block of Rosemary’s Lane in Park Hall, for a report of shots fired.

Police alleged that Jens Edwin Hanson, 42, of 44285 Blake Creek Road in Valley Lee, Md., confronted the victim, brandished a firearm, and fired a shot near the victim while the parties were outside.

Police say that the victim fled into a residence, at which point Hanson fired several additional shots; the victim’s residence was struck as well as property outside the residence. Hanson left the scene and was located in his vehicle a short time later and arrested. Hanson was charged with the following offenses:

  • A firearm in Commission of a Felony
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Malicious Destruction of Property
  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Assault 2nd Degree

Hanson was ordered held without bail at the St. Mary’s County Jail.

Christina Hanson filed for divorce from Jens E. Hanson on May 25, 2018, with the Circuit Court awarding sole custody of a minor child to Christina on June 21, 2018. The judgment of absolute divorce was declared on June 29, 2018.  A peace bond was issued against Jens Hanson on Aug. 9, 2018, with his address now listed as the St. Mary’s Jail and a hearing set for Aug. 16, 2018.

Jens Hanson was arrested by Maryland State Trooper Brandy Ditoto on Nov. 16, 2017, and charged with DWI. In a plea deal with St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz on March 28, 2018, Hanson was allowed to pay a fine of $257.50 and be put on unsupervised probation. Court records show that the fine wasn’t paid.

The St. Mary’s Circuit Court Magistrate asked for a bench warrant with no bond to be served against Hanson after he failed to appear for a child support hearing on April 18, 2017.

Hanson was charged with domestic violence in St. Mary’s District Court on April 7, 2015, with a protective order placed against him and made final on that date.
