MANHUNT FOR SHOOTER: Michael Fischer blasted victim with a shotgun; captured after trailer park mayhem

HERMANVILLE, MD. – A beef in a trailer park turned into a shooting and a manhunt for the shooter who shot a woman in the leg with a shotgun.

Maryland State Police report that on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 12:18 pm, Troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack, along with St. Mary’s County Deputies responded to a trailer located on Hillside Drive, in the Lexington Manor trailer park for a reported shooting.

Police say that an argument at the residence led to the suspect, Michael Hemi Fischer, 21, of Lexington Park, allegedly firing a shotgun round towards the victim, an eighteen-year-old white female, striking the victim in the leg.

Police say that the victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was later transported by ambulance to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital where she was treated and released.

Police say that Fischer fled the scene which set off an extensive manhunt in the area including dogs and helicopters.

Fischer was located in the area and placed under arrest.

The Maryland State Police report that Fischer is prohibited from possessing firearms/ammunition due to an active Protective Order. 

Fischer was taken to St. Mary’s County Jail and charged with 1st & 2nd Degree Assault, reckless endangerment and numerous firearm-related charges.

St. Mary’s Deputy Matthew McCuen arrested Fischer on drug charges on July 31, 2015, which resulted in a plea deal and being put on the Stet Docket by St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz on Sept. 17, 2015.
