Charles Sheriff Police Beat: Michael Keakalani Lynch Charged with Stabbing
LAPLATA, MD. – Charles County Sheriff’s Officers report that on August 19, 2018, at 9:58 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of N. Oak Avenue in La Plata for the report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old male with a stab wound to the abdomen. The victim told officers he was involved in a fight when the suspect produced and knife and stabbed him.
Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect, Michael Keokalani Lynch, 50, of Fredericksburg, Va., as well as LaPlata, Md.
Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry reports that Lynch was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. The victim was flown to a hospital where he was treated for an injury that does not appear to be life-threatening. Det. B. Buchanan is investigating.
Lynch was found guilty of shoplifting in Fredericksburg General District Court on March 18, 2014, and other charges in Stafford County included driving while suspended.
Lynch was arrested for DWI in Charles County, Md., on July 11, 2018, when his address was listed as in Falls Church, Va. Lynch was charged by Charles County Officer D. Spence as he operated a vehicle while impaired by controlled substances at the intersection of Leonardtown Road and Rt. 301 in Waldorf. In District Court for Charles County on Aug. 18, 2017, Lynch got a plea deal from Charles County States Attorney Anthony Covington and Lynch pleaded guilty to negligent driving and paid a fine of $165.50; entered a guilty plea to driving on a revoked license and was sentenced to 60 days in jail with 50 days suspended. THE REAL DEAL: The DUI drugs charge was dropped.
