MURDER USA: Two charged with homicide in body fished from Portsville Millpond

Portsville- The Delaware State Police have arrested the second suspect in connection with the death of a 19-year-old Laurel man.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 26-year-old Jerry Reed of Georgetown, turned himself in at Troop 5.  Reed was charged with the following:

  • Murder First Degree
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

PORTSVILLE, DEL. – The Delaware State Police have arraigned one suspect in connection with the death of a 19-year-old Laurel man, while the second suspect still remains at large.

On Saturday, September 29, 2018, Traevon Dixon, 21 of Laurel was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 for Murder First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.  He received a $160,000.00 cash only bond and remains in custody at the Sussex Correctional Institution.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Isaac Hatton of Laurel, was pronounced deceased at the scene at Portsville Millpond from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Troopers still have been unable to locate Jerry Reed who currently has active warrants for Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.

The preliminary investigation has determined at approximately 9:22 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018, troopers responded to the area of Portsville Road and Dogwood Lane, west of Laurel for a report of a male subject that was found in the pond. Sussex County Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
