STAFFORD, VA. – When Stafford County Deputy Sheriff Scott Fulford checked out a suspicious vehicle located at 60 Butler Road, at 2:17 am on Nov. 10, 2018, he found Jeremiah Kerns, 26, of Colonial Beach, Va., when he lit him up with his overhead lights.

Police say that Kerns began to exit the vehicle resulting in the deputy instructed him to stay put. As the deputy quickly sniffed out the dual aromas of alcohol and marijuana, he proceeded to take Kerns into custody.

A search of the vehicle yielded a gun and pot along with the proverbial bag of white substance which generally turns out to be cocaine or heroin.

Kerns was charged with possession of controlled substances, possession of a firearm while in possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail and held without bond.

CHAD’S GREAT STOLEN CREDIT CARD CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SPREE

STAFFORD, VA. – Quick work on the part of Stafford Deputy Leckemby tracked down a Manassas man who was on a shopping spree with allegedly stolen credit cards.

The shopping spree ended at Target after romping through other stores, including Walmart on Oct. 31, 2018. The cards were stolen from Prince William Forest Park.

Deputy Leckemby checked surrounding locations and located the suspect at the Stafford Marketplace Target. The suspect was detained and initially provided false identification to the deputy. He then admitted his real name was Chad Richardson, 37, of Manassas.

The stolen credit card was located at the customer service desk. Richardson was taken into custody and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2500.00 secured bond. He is charged with nearly two dozen counts of credit card theft, attempting to obtain money by false pretenses, providing false identification to law enforcement, identity theft, and unlawful name change.

Cell phone store heist may be an inside job

STAFFORD, VA. – Was it an inside job? Could be since the burglars were only in the store for five minutes – making recently departed employees of the AT&T Store prime suspects in the heist of more than $80,000 worth of phones and cash.

Stafford County Sheriff David Decatur reports that officers are searching for two suspects involved in a burglary that occurred at the AT&T store located at 28 South Gateway Drive in the early morning hours on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018.

On November 15, 2018, at approximately 2:46 a.m., 1st Sergeant Christopher Neuhard, Sergeant Jason Aubry, and Deputy Scott Fulford responded to the AT&T store for a burglar alarm.

Surveillance footage revealed that two suspects wearing face masks and carrying crowbars entered the store at approximately 2:40 a.m. by breaking the front window. They forced entry into the storage room where they took an estimated $80,000.00 worth of phones and cash before fleeing the store. They were in the store for approximately five minutes.

A K9 unit responded to the scene but was unable to track down the suspects. Other units checked the surrounding area but did not observe anyone traveling on foot.
