MURDER USA: Booze and Ecstasy Use by Dontaze Purnell Drake Killed Passenger of SUV When He Slammed into SUV in High Speed Cruise on Baltimore-Washington Parkway

GREENBELT, MD.  – When Dontaze Drake took his party on the highway he ended the life of an innocent victim and will only have to serve about five and half years in prison as a result.

U.S. District Judge George J. Hazel sentenced Dontaze Purnell Drake,  41, of 4815 Midline Road, Baltimore, Maryland to 70 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for involuntary manslaughter.  Judge Hazel also ordered Drake to pay restitution of $12,570.  Drake admitted that he caused a fatal collision on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway on September 24, 2017, at the time of which he was speeding, his blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit in Maryland, and he was driving on a suspended license.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K. Hur and Chief Robert D. MacLean of the U.S. Park Police.

According to his plea agreement, at approximately 3:00 a.m. on September 24, 2017, Drake caused a fatal collision on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.  Drake was traveling southbound at approximately 33 miles per hour over the posted speed limit when he attempted to pass a vehicle traveling in the right lane.  Drake struck the rear of an SUV traveling in the right lane.  As a result of the collision, one of the four passengers in the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy determined that the cause of death was multiple injuries sustained in the crash caused by Drake.

Drake’s blood-alcohol level was .12%, which is above the legal limit in Maryland, and he also had .03 mg/L of MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, in his system at the time.  In addition, a search of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration database revealed that Drake’s license had been suspended.

Dontaze Drake was charged by Baltimore County Police Officer Rose with driving without license and other traffic charges including driving while revoked on Sept. 25, 2017 at 9:51 pm when he was stopped on Rt. 40 at Rosedale Ave. when operating a 2010 Honda.  In a plea deal with the Baltimore County States Attorney on Jan. 10, 2018, the charges were dropped.

Dontaze Drake was charged with a slew of reckless and careless driving charges when arrested for DWI on July 30, 2017 at 1:21 am by Baltimore County Police Officer Schaub as he operated a 2013 Acura on Pulaski Highway eastbound on Holly Drive. In a plea deal, with the federal charges of DUI manslaughter pending, Drake entered a guilty plea and picked up zero time in prison.

Dontaze Drake was charged with DWI on Nov. 10, 2015 and once again Baltimore County States Attorney Scott Shellenberger failed to act to protect the interests of Marylanders wishing to drive on highways without being killed by a dirtbag scum like Drake. In a plea deal on March 4, 2016, Drake entered a guilty plea to DWI. THE DEAL: 30 days in jail and all court costs and fine were waived. Bryan A. Mobley of Baltimore, Md., was the attorney for the defendant and can be proud that he was instrumental in keeping Drake on the roadways to kill a person while drunk and drugged driving the following year.

Dontaze Drake was arrested for DWI on Jan. 23, 2015 by Baltimore County Police Officer Rayner at 1:48 am on Bellona Avenue at N. Charles Street while operating a 2010 Honda. In a plea deal on June 8, 2015, with Baltimore County States Attorney Scott Shellenberger, Drake was given a verdict of Probation Before Judgement with zero time in jail and a fine of $150.

Dontaze Drake entered a guilty plea to distribution of drugs on Aug. 15, 2011 in Baltimore City Circuit Court and picked up a sentence of twelve years in prison with seven years suspended. On July 1, 2015, Drake entered a plea of guilty to violation of probation and earned a new sentence of five years with four years and eleven months suspended.
