HARFORD POLICE BEAT: Ex-con Laquan Graham busted with illegal possession of a gun by MDTA cop

ELKTON, MD – Those tough gun laws in Baltimore City really don’t apply to the felons who run around MURDER CITY packing heat.  However, this city dude might find the atmosphere in Harford County less conducive to lenient treatment for his charges on illegal possession of a gun by a convicted felon and more likely to result in his incarceration.

Police report that on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police arrested a Baltimore man and charged him with illegally possessing a gun and drugs.

An MDTA Police officer stopped a 2015 Chrysler that had a broken tail lamp near the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (US 40). A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun and marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Laquan Robert Graham of 825 Saint Dunstans Road, Baltimore, Md., claimed possession of the gun and drugs. Graham is prohibited from possessing a handgun due to a prior felony conviction.

GUN, DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE ALL A BIG PROBLEM FOR EX-CON

 MDTA Police Officer Grossnickle charged Graham with illegally transporting a firearm, felony prohibited person in possession of a handgun, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and driving with a suspended license.

After processing, officers transported Graham to a district court commissioner in Harford County, where he was ordered held without bond. Graham’s trip back to the Maryland Prison System will have its next stop on March 25, 2019 in Harford County District Court.

Graham recently was a star performer in Baltimore City Circuit Court where in a plea deal on Dec. 14, 2018 the following took place: THE DEAL: Verdict of not guilty for second-degree murder, not guilty for first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime – verdict not rendered, armed robbery – verdict not rendered.

Indicted Sept. 21, 2011, in Cecil County Circuit Court on 17 counts including armed robbery, arson, first and second degree assault, theft of a vehicle, burglary, violation of ex-parte order and more, Graham entered into a plea deal with the Cecil County States Attorney on Sept. 9, 2016 and pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, a felony. On Jan. 11, 2018 Graham was charged with violating the terms of his probation.
