PRINCE WILLIAM POLICE BEAT: Joshua Sims charged with malicious wounding, strangulation

WOODBRIDGE, VA. – Prince William County Police report that a woman reported to police that she and an acquaintance were arguing when their beef became embroiled and soon hit the high level of assault.

Joshua Carl Sims, 34, of Walnut Street, Woodbridge Va. Charged with malicious wounding and domestic assault.

Prince William Police report that on March 6 at 11:35 PM, officers responded to an apartment located on the 1000 block of Walnut St. in Woodbridge, Va., to investigate a domestic.

The victim, a 46-year-old woman, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.

During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the upper body and choked her. The victim was eventually able to break free from the accused and flee the apartment before contacting police. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Joshua Carl SIMS, was arrested without incident. 

Arrested on March 6, 2019: Joshua Carl SIMS, 34, of the 1000 block of Walnut St. in Woodbridge. Charged with strangulation and domestic assault and battery. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond
