MARYLAND STATE POLICE BEAT: Just a day’s cruise on the Highway to Hell with guns and meth for Sean McCarter
FREDERICK, MD. – It was just a car load of druggies with wheelman Sean McCarter who believed he needed a loaded gun in his console to keep handy for any highwaymen he might meet or an occasional case of road rage.
Maryland State Police report that on March 16, 2019, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack conducted a traffic stop in the westbound lane of Rt. 144 at the park and ride, of a Green BMW. Police say that after determining that Sean M. McCarter, 41, of 547 Creek Road, Kennett Square, Pa., the operator of the car had a suspended driver’s license the trooper began looking into other elements of this cruise in the country.
Troopers quickly got several clues that criminal infractions were at play with the alleged miscreants in this vehicle and called for a nosey K-9 dog to scan the vehicle for drugs and police say that McCarter fessed up to packing neat next to his driver’s seat.
Police say that the firearm, a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, was loaded and concealed between the driver seat and the center console.
Then the passengers began to admit that they were in possession of drugs; with one to having marijuana in the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle was conducted where a small amount of marijuana, THC oil, 3 baggies of methamphetamine, a crack pipe, a methamphetamine pipe and various prescription pills were located. McCarter claimed ownership of the firearm but was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
Sean M. McCarter of Kennett Square, PA was arrested by Maryland Trooper Jerimy Tindal, and charged with:
- Possession CDS not marijuana
- Illegal Possession of Ammo
- Firearm Possession w/felony conviction
- Handgun in vehicle
- Loaded handgun in vehicle
- Handgun on person
- Loaded handgun on person.
McCarter was released on an unsecured personal bond of $10,000
Kelly Brooks of Quarryville, PA was charged with:
- CDS Possession not marijuana
Amy Barksdale of Delta, PA was charged with:
- CDS Possession not marijuana
- Possession CDS paraphernalia
