OCEAN CITY POLICE BEAT: DUI arrests by Ocean City Police for April 1 to April 11, 2019

Tiffany Louise Scott, 38, of 1093 Clayton Delaney Road, Clayton, Del., was arrested on April 7, 2019 at 12:41 am by Ocean City Police Officer X. Patterson for DWI as she operated a Toyota on 74th Street at Md. 528 northbound in Ocean City, Md.  The taxpayers of Maryland will be providing a free attorney in Worcester County District Court for the DWI, DUI drugs, speeding, unsafe lane changes and other traffic violations on May 29, 2019.

Joshua Lee Hankerson, 31, of 100 W. State Street, Delmar, Md., was arrested for DWI on April 7, 2019 at 1:37 am by Ocean City Police Officer P. J. Schob as he operated a Chevy on 60th Street in Ocean City, Md.  Hankerson will be given a free attorney paid for by the very citizens of Maryland that he allegedly placed in danger of being killed by his acts.

  • Hankerson entered a guilty plea in Worcester County District Court on June 2, 2011, to charges of failing to report a crash involving injury, death or property damage. He was fined $207.50 and given probation for one year.
  • Hankerson entered a guilty plea to second-degree assault on Nov. 9, 2006 following his arrest by Maryland State Trooper Jonischek on Sept. 20, 2006 in Somerset County, Md.  A prison term of three years was suspended in the plea deal. John Phillip Rue II, a free attorney provided by the taxpayers, represented Hankerson.

Patrick Michael Steele, 35, of 109 Remington Road, Port Deposit, Md., was charged with DWI and other traffic charges by Ocean City Police Officer M. E. Hall on March 9, 2019 at 1:40 am, as he operated a 2015 Ford on Coastal Highway at 65th Street in Ocean City, Md.  A trial is set in Worcester District Court in Ocean City for May 29, 2019.

John Henry McCowan, 52, of 7219 Arthur Drive, Falls Church, Va., was arrested by Ocean City Police Officer P. J. Schob for DWI as he operated a 2018 Audi on 139th Street in Ocean City, Md., on April Fool’s Day, April 1, 2019 at 1:47 am.  The officer wasn’t fooling as police records show that McCowan, the owner of Metro Medical, picked up a bonus of four additional traffic charges in his great adventure at the beach.  McCowan was released on his own personal recognizance and has employed the services of Ocean City defense attorney Charles Gregory Coburn as his mouthpiece to try to get a plea deal from the Worcester County States Attorney when the charges are brought forth in District Court on May 15, 2019.

Keshaun Lovell Wright, 40, of 323 Robin Drive, Ocean City, Md., was arrested for DWI on April 2, 2019 at 10:52 pm by Ocean City Police Officer A. Hawkins. Wright’s trial is set for May 15, 2019 in Worcester County District Court located in Ocean City, Md.  

  • When not selling seafood from his fish business, Wright also pedals drugs to those in need. Maryland Court records show that Wright was found guilty in Worcester County Circuit Court of distribution of drugs on Sept. 17, 2017. Wright was sentenced to prison for three years with all but one year suspended, which allowed him to serve his time in the Worcester County Jail instead of going off to the Maryland Prison at Westover.
  • Wright entered a guilty plea in a deal with the Somerset County States Attorney, to a charge of unlawfully engaging in the sale and transfer of a registered firearm. THE DEAL: Arrested by Maryland State Troopers Pruitt and Zink, the charges were issued by way of a Somerset County Grand Jury Indictment handed down on Nov. 13, 2009, three counts were dropped, and Wright was sent to prison for five years.  He was given credit for time served of 146 days.
  • Wright was charged with nine counts of burglary and theft in Worcester County by way of a criminal information on Dec. 11, 2009 and due to his engagement in Somerset County and subsequent incarceration on gun charges, the Worcester charges were put on the Stet Docket.
  • Wright entered a guilty plea to carrying a concealed deadly weapon on June 21, 2007 and in a plea deal with Somerset County States Attorney Kristy Melker Hickman, in Somerset County Circuit Court, won a measly 90 days in jail.
  • Earlier in his criminal career, Wright racked up jail time for auto theft, and felony theft in Cambridge, Md.
  • Wright was not very good at escaping from jail and earned another 18 months in jail on June 18, 1998 when found guilty in Dorchester Circuit Court.

Third Time May Be the Charm for Repeat DWI Driver

Victoria Hope Pyzik, 29, of 37723 North Shady Drive, Selbyville, Md., was arrested for DWI by Ocean City Police Officer C. J. Kautz on April 3, 2019 at 7:28 pm as she operated a 2016 Nissan Frontier on Coastal Highway at 94th Street.  Pyzik has a trail in Worcester District Court set for May 29, 2019.  Maryland taxpayers will be providing her with a free attorney, according to court records.

  • Pyzik was charged on Feb. 16, 2019 with DWI, hit and run, leaving the scene of a crash, by Ocean City Police Officer Joseph Laughlin for a collision that occurred on 127t Street westbound at Coastal Highway in Ocean City. Her trial on these charges is set for May 10, 2019 and her mouthpiece is a free attorney provided by taxpayers.
  • Pyzik was arrested for DWI by Ocean City Police Officer D. Braniff on Aug. 23, 2008 while she operated a Jeep southbound on Coastal Highway at 58th Street in Ocean City, Md. In a plea deal with the Worcester County States Attorney and her attorney, J. Harrison Phillips III, she entered a guilty plea to DWI in Worcester District Court on Sept. 1, 2011. THE DEAL: No jail time and a fine of $500.
