PRINCESS ANNE POLICE BEAT: DWI, Drugs, Armed Robberies & Home Invasion Keeps Officers Busy

DEADHEAD HIT PARADE: The Princess Anne Police Department reports the following arrests for possession of marijuana:

On 2-24-19, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Markeith Sterling Miller, 22, of Princess Anne, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from an investigation at the Royal Farms store, located at 30452 Mt. Vernon Road. During the investigation, Miller was found to be in possession of marijuana. Miller was issued a civil citation and was subsequently released from the scene.

On 2-15-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Mark Elijah Velasquez, 23, of Owings Mills, Maryland for possession of marijuana over ten grams. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Velasquez was found to be the vehicle operator and in possession of marijuana. Velasquez was charged with possession of marijuana over ten grams and was seen by a District Court Commissioner who released Velasquez on personal recognizance.

On 1-5-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Sean Jermaine Ashley, 39, of Salisbury, Maryland for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and having a handgun in a vehicle. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Ashley was found to be the vehicle operator. Ashley was charged with handgun in vehicle, possession of marijuana over ten grams, false statement to officer, obstructing and hindering, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm with felony conviction, loaded handgun in vehicle, illegal possession of regulated firearm, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance with firearm, firearm/drug traffic crime, illegal possession of ammunition, driving vehicle on highway on suspended out of state license, driving vehicle on highway without required license, fail to display license to police on demand, and directing and permitting highway vehicle operation contrary to law. Ashley also had an outstanding District Court bench warrant. Ashley was seen by a District Court Commissioner who released Ashley on personal recognizance on the bench warrant but issued no bond on the remaining charges. Ashley was subsequently released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.

On 1-1-19, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Nyjal Jacob Drayton, 19, of Frederica, Delaware with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Drayton was found to be the vehicle operator and in possession of marijuana. Drayton was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams and was subsequently released.

On 12-27-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged James Montrell Williams, 27, of Westover, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Williams was found to be the operator of the vehicle and in possession of marijuana. Williams was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams and subsequently released.

On 12-11-18, the Princess Anne Police Department served Shirley Dawn Marsh, 58, of Princess Anne, Maryland with an outstanding District Court criminal summons. The criminal summons charged Marsh with possession of a controlled dangerous substance-not marijuana and theft less than $100.00 in regard to an incident that occurred on 11-9-18 at 11559 Somerset Avenue. Marsh was subsequently released after being served with her copy of the criminal summons.

On 12-9-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Desmond Ediage Chi, 22, of Hyattsville, Maryland with possession of marijuana under 10 grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Chi was found to be the vehicle operator and in possession of marijuana. Chi was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams and subsequently released.

On 2-8-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Juwan Nadir Nasheed, 21, of Baltimore, Maryland for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Nasheed was found to be the vehicle operator. Nasheed was also found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance-marijuana over 10 grams. Nasheed was seen by a District Court Commissioner who released Nasheed on personal recognizance.

On 11-14-18, the Princess Anne Police charged Muerio Cotton, 18, of Westover, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Cotton was found to be the vehicle operator. Cotton was also found to be in possession of marijuana and was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams and subsequently released from custody.

On 10-6-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Austin Michael Jordan, 19, of Salisbury, Maryland with possession of marijuana under 10 grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Jordan was found to be the vehicle operation and he was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Jordan was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams and was subsequently released from custody.

10-4-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Raymond Stanley Holliday, 48, of Salisbury, Maryland with possession of marijuana under 10 grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Holliday was found to be a passenger and in possession of marijuana. Holliday was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams and was subsequently released from the scene.

On 9-27-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Heather Marie Parker, 19, of Temperanceville, Virginia with possession of marijuana under 10 grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Parker was found to be the operator of the vehicle. Parker was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Parker was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams and a traffic citation for the traffic violation and subsequently released from custody.

On 9-20-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Tishauna Monique Dupont, 27, of Fruitland, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Dupont was found to be the vehicle operator. Dupont was also found to be driving on a suspended license along with being in possession of marijuana under ten grams. Dupont was issued traffic citations for the driving violations and a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams.

On 9-12-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Latrell Jamal Moore, 19, of Salisbury, Maryland with possession of marijuana under 10 grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Moore was found to be a passenger in the vehicle and in possession of marijuana. Moore was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams and subsequently released from custody.

On 9-5-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Nicholas Tyler Garnett, 18, of Princess Anne, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Garnett was found to be in possession of marijuana. Garnett was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams and subsequently released from the stop.

On 7-22-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Miquel Marquez Suredew Watley, 27, of Pocomoke, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Watley was found to be the vehicle operator. Watley was also found to be in possession of marijuana and was subsequently issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams.

On 7-5-18, the Princess Anne Police Department charged Delbert Lee Bivens, Jr., 22, of Princess Anne, Maryland with possession of marijuana under ten grams. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop where Bivens Jr. was found to be the vehicle operator. Further investigation during the stop revealed that Bivens Jr. was in possession of marijuana. Bivens Jr. was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under ten grams and subsequently released from custody.

On 2-17-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Oluwajuwonlo Peter Aladeselu, 20, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland for driving while under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Aladeselu was found to be the operator of the vehicle. Aladeselu was charged with violating provisional license restriction, driving vehicle with alcohol in blood in violation of restriction, driving vehicle with lamp improperly displaying white light from rear, directing and permitting vehicle operation contrary to law, negligent driving, driving vehicle in violation of restricted license requirement, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and driving while under the influence of alcohol per se. Aladeselu was subsequently released from custody after being issued his citations.

On 2-16-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Myra Marchell White, 30, of Princess Anne, Maryland for driving while under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where White was found to be the vehicle operator. White was charged with driver failure to obey properly placed traffic control device, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and possession of marijuana under ten grams. White was subsequently released from custody after being issued her traffic and civil citations.

Two DWI arrests in one week for Gerard Shaheed Fields

On 2-15-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Gerard Shaheed Fields, 30, of Temple Hills, Maryland for driving while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Fields was found to be the vehicle operator. Fields was charged with fail to display license on demand, fail to display registration card on demand, fail to notify MVA of address change within 30 days, driving vehicle in violation of restricted license requirement, directing and permitting vehicle operator contrary to law, driving vehicle on highway without required license, negligent driving, driving on a suspended license and privilege, driving on a revoked license and privilege, driving vehicle so far impaired by drugs cannot drive safely, and driving vehicle while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance. Fields was subsequently released from custody upon being issued his traffic citations.

On 2-8-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Gerald Shaheed Fields, 30, of Temple Hills, Maryland for driving while impaired. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Fields was found to be the vehicle operator. Fields was charged with speeding, fail to display license on demand, fail to display registration card on demand, fail to notify MVA of address change, driving vehicle without required license, driving vehicle on a suspended license, driving vehicle on a revoked license, negligent driving, consuming alcohol in passenger area of vehicle and driving while so far impaired by drugs and alcohol cannot drive safely. Fields was subsequently released from custody after being issued his citations.

On 2-14-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Paris Julian Hagans, 18, of Baltimore, Maryland for driving while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Hagans was found to be the vehicle operator. Hagans was charged with fail to display license on demand, negligent driving, driving vehicle so far impaired by drugs cannot drive safely, and driving vehicle while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance. Hagans was subsequently released from custody upon being issued his traffic citations.

On 2-13-19, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Woodland Warren James, 67, of Princess Anne, Maryland for driving under the influence. The arrest stemmed from a Maryland State Trooper observing James on a bicycle failing to yield to oncoming traffic and nearly being hit by a vehicle in the area of Route 13 and Linden Avenue. James was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield to oncoming traffic, and using a bicycle on highway without functioning lights. James was subsequently released from custody after being issued his citations.

On 11-25-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Anthony Sylvester Smith, 60, of Millsboro, Delaware for driving while under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Smith was found to be the vehicle operator. Smith was charged with fail to stop before entering highway, fail to obey traffic control device, fail to stop at stop line, fail to equip vehicle with required lamps, fail to drive vehicle on right half of roadway when required, negligent driving, driving while impaired by alcohol, and driving while under the influence of alcohol. Smith was subsequently released from custody after being issued his citations.

On 7-12-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Amy Jean Uff, 48, of Westover, Maryland for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Uff was found to be the vehicle operator. Uff was charged with fail to stop at steady circular signal, fail to stop at stop sign line, fail to obey a traffic control device, fail to display license, driving on highway without required license, driving on suspended license and privilege, reckless driving, negligent driving, driving while impaired by alcohol, and driving while under the influence of alcohol. Uff was subsequently released from custody after being issued her citations.

On 6-28-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Marvin Russell Knox, 60, of Salisbury, Maryland for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Know was found to be the vehicle operator. Knox was charged with failure to equip vehicle with required stop lamp, driving vehicle on highway without required license, driving on a suspended out of state license, negligent driving, driving while impaired by alcohol, and driving while under the influence of alcohol. Knox was subsequently released from custody after being issued his traffic citations.

• On 6-28-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Courtney Danielle Fisher, 28, of New Church, Virginia for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where Fisher was found to be the vehicle operator. Fisher was charged with speeding, driver changing lanes when unsafe, fail to drive on right half of roadway when required, driver using hands to use handheld telephone while vehicle is in motion, driver consuming alcoholic beverage in passenger area of vehicle, fail to display registration card, fail to display license, possessing suspended license, driving vehicle on highway without required license, driving on suspended out of state license, reckless driving, negligent driving, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and driving while under the influence of alcohol per se. Fisher was subsequently released from custody upon being issued her traffic citations.

On 6-5-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Troy Booker Nixon, 50, of Princess Anne, Maryland for theft and driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest stemmed from Officers locating Nixon after he was identified as a suspect of a theft complaint at the Food Lion store, located at 12158 Brittingham Lane. Nixon was observed operating a bicycle when located by officers. Nixon attempted to flee from officers but was later able to be taken into custody. Nixon was charged with failure of driver to drive to curb upon signal by police vehicle, attempt by driver to elude uniformed police by failing to stop, negligent driving, driving vehicle while impaired by alcohol, driving vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and other minor traffic charges. Nixon was subsequently released from custody after being issued a criminal citation for theft along with the traffic citations.

Armed Robberies in Princess Anne

On 1-30-19, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to the Food Lion store, located at 12158 Brittingham Lane in reference to an armed robbery. Investigation revealed that the suspect confronted a store employee in the office area after the store had closed and demanded currency. The suspect was armed with what was described as a handgun and was described as a black male wearing a mask, a gray in color hooded sweatshirt, black pants with a white stripe on the side, and gloves. The suspect was able to flee the store with an undisclosed amount of currency. There were no reported injuries from the robbery and the incident remains under investigation. On 8-23-18, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to the Royal Farms store, located at 30452 Mt. Vernon Road in reference to an armed robbery. Investigation revealed that two suspects entered the store and immediately confronted the store clerk. One of the suspects displayed a handgun to the clerk during the robbery. The clerk sustained minor injuries during the robbery and the suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of currency and merchandise from the store. The suspects were described as black males wearing dark clothing and masks. One suspect is approximately 5’9” and the other is approximately 5’11”. Incident remains under investigation.

On 8-17-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Roy Brewer Davison, IV, 30, of Princess Anne, Maryland due to an outstanding District Court arrest warrant. The arrest warrant charged Davison IV with armed robbery, 2 counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, robbery, and 2 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. The charges were in regard to an incident that occurred at the Karemore Pharmacy, located at 12085 Somerset Avenue on 8-13-18. Davison IV was seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued no bond. Davison IV was subsequently released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.

On 7-4-18, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to the parking lot area of Peacock’s Restaurant, located at 30361 Mt. Vernon Road in reference to a robbery. Investigation revealed that the suspect approached an employee at the Fireworks tent that was located on the property of Peacock’s Restaurant and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect was displaying what appeared to be a handgun and was described as a dark-skinned black male, approximately 25 years of age, approximately 5’10” to 6’ tall, wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, and a black and white bandanna style mask. The suspect was able to leave with an undisclosed amount of currency and the victim was not injured during the incident. Incident remains under investigation.

Armed Home Invasion

On 9-26-18, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to the Arden’s Run apartment complex, located at 30630 UMES Boulevard in reference to an armed robbery. Investigation revealed that four suspects entered an apartment that was occupied by four victims. The suspects assaulted the victims and stole various items from the apartment.

The victims suffered minor injuries and two of the victims were treated at PRMC for their injuries.

The suspects were armed with handguns and they were described as the following: Suspect 1 was described as a black male, approximately 5’9″ tall, approximately 26 years of age, medium goatee, wearing a black hoodie style jacket. Suspect 2 was described as a heavyset black male, approximately 27 years of age, unshaven light facial hair, wearing pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up.

 Suspect 3 was described as a black male, approximately 20 years of age, short hair, thin build, approximately 5’6″ tall, dark skin, and wearing a navy-blue fleece sweatshirt. Suspect 4 was only described as a male wearing a mask and a dark hooded sweatshirt. Incident remains under investigation.

Armed Robber Fled with Cash from Dollar General

On 9-3-18, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to the Dollar General store, located at 12175 Somerset Avenue in reference to an armed robbery. Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the store clerk. The suspect did display a handgun, but the clerk was not injured during the robbery. The suspect was described as wearing a dark blue/black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark gloves, and a light-colored mask. The suspect was able to flee the store with an undisclosed amount of currency. Incident remains under investigation.

Ellwood Morris Jr. charged with defying order of Judge to stay away from Public Defender

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. – One has to be a notable dirtbag when the Public Defender has to get a court order to keep such dirtbag away from the office – or perhaps the harassment of a the free attorney was a type of criticism of services rendered.

Princess Anne Police report that on 8-31-18, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Ellwood Henry Morris Jr., 36, no fixed address for violating a protective order. The arrest stemmed from Morris Jr. being on the property of the Public Defender’s Office, located at 11785 Somerset Avenue in violation of a protective order. Morris Jr. was charged with violation of a protective order and was seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued no bond. Ellwood Jr. was subsequently released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.
