CHESTERTOWN POLICE BEAT: DUI arrests includes Shannan Lynn Hill; knucklehead award goes to drug dealer/burglar Troy Somerville

The Chestertown Police report the following arrests:

SHANNAN LYNN HILL: On April 20, 2019 at 9:36 pm, – Rt 291 at Autumn Lake – Chestertown Police Cpl. Michelle Guerriero issued citations to Shannan Lynn Hill, 25, of 5651 Boundary Ave., Rock Hall, Md, for:

  • Driving Veh While So Far Impaired by Drug, Drugs & Alcohol Cannot Drive Safely
  • Driving Veh While Impaired by Controlled Dangerous Substance
  • Driving Veh On Hwy With Lamp, Device Improperly Displaying White Light from Rear

Court date for Hill is set for June 5, 2019 in Kent County District Court.

DUANE CHARLES HARDY, 48, of Chestertown was stopped by Chestertown Police Officer PFC L. Speight at 100 Blk School Rd. – Pfc. L. Speight charged Duane Charles Hardy, 48, Chestertown, for:

  • Fail Obey a lawful order of a law officer
  • Disturb the Peace/Disorderly

TROY LEONUS SOMERVILLE JR., Police report that on April 4, 2019, – 400 Blk Morgnec Rd. – Cpl. A. Piasecki charged Troy Leonus Somerville, Jr, 30, of 83, Clipper Way, Chestertown, Md., for:

  • CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana
  • CDS: Possession of drug Paraphernalia

Somerville was released from jail on April 11, 2019 following a bail hearing. Somerville will be represented by a free attorney paid for by taxpayers – Janet Marie Hart, of Elkton, Md.

Troy Somerville entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute drugs in a plea deal with the Queen Anne’s County States Attorney on Sept. 21, 2017.  THE DEAL: In return for the guilty plea to dealing drugs, six other charges were dropped, and Somerville was sentenced to prison for twelve years with seven years suspended.  A bench warrant for his arrest was issued on March 20, 2019 for violation of probation.  Somerville was ordered held without bond, and if convicted of the new drug charges and the violation, it is likely he will be headed for the slammer.

Queen Anne’s County States Attorney Lance Richardson

Somerville entered a guilty plea to DWI and to driving while suspended on Feb. 19, 2016 in Kent County Circuit Court in a plea deal with the Kent County States Attorney.  THE DEAL: Somerville got sixty days in jail for driving while suspended and six months in jail for the DWI with all other charges dropped. He was also fined $500.

When arrested by Chestertown Police Officer Robert Gwin for felony first-degree burglary on Dec. 6, 2011, Somerville got a plea deal with the Kent County State Attorney on April 12, 2012. THE DEAL: Somerville was sentenced to 18 months in jail in return for his guilty plea.  Ten other charges were dropped.
