SOUTHERN MARYLAND POLICE BEAT: St. Mary’s Deputy found David John Crane Jr., wanted for theft

LEONARDTOWN, MD. – With a child back in Colorado, one might think that David Crane would get a job to support his kid. St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron reports that on May 8, 2019, David John Crane Jr., 28 of 1000 Glen Oak Court, LaPlata, Md., and sometimes of 606 Vine Street, Salida, Colorado, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Theft by Dep. Baker.

When arrested by Charles County Sheriff Officer Jen McKenzie on March 17, 2015, for a theft scheme, Crane employed Maryland Senate President Thomas “Mike” Miller Jr., as his attorney. In a plea deal with Charles County States Attorney Anthony Covington, the charges were all dropped on Aug. 11, 2015.

Crane was arrested by St. Mary’s Sheriff Deputy John Davis on Jan. 15, 2015, and with Senator Miller as his mouthpiece in court another plea deal was struck on June 2, 2015. THE DEAL: Covington dropped the charge of theft between $1,000 and $10,000.  A warrant was issued on July 21, 2017, and was served when arrested on May 9, 2019, by Deputy Baker.

The taxpayers of Maryland will be excited to learn that Crane is eligible to have the services of the free, but sad public defender as perhaps his family is tired of paying the lofty fees of Sen. Miller, who might be pricey, but gets good results.
