REDNECK RAMPAGE: Brandishing gun on Rt. 295 lands Thomas Edward Scott in slammer after troopers closed in on his mighty Mustang galloping in road rage.

LAUREL, MD – Maryland State Police report that troopers arrested a Pennsylvania man after he reportedly brandished a weapon during a road rage incident.

The accused is identified as Thomas Edward Scott, 26, of 474 Laurence Drive, Hanover, Pennsylvania. Scott is charged with first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Scott was the driver and sole occupant of a dark red Ford Mustang with Pennsylvania tags.

Police did not identify the victim who was driving a dark gray Jeep Cherokee at the time and was uninjured during the incident.

Maryland State Police report that on June 19, 2019, around 12 noon, troopers from the Glen Burnie Barrack received a 9-1-1 call from the victim with the report of a road rage incident on northbound on Route 295, south of Route 197 in Prince Georges County. The victim reported the driver of a Ford Mustang, later identified as Scott, pointed a handgun in his direction.

Troopers immediately responded to the area and located the Ford Mustang traveling on westbound I-695 at Nursery Road in Anne Arundel County. Troopers conducted a traffic stop and a subsequent probable cause search of the Mustang revealed a loaded black BB handgun underneath the front passenger seat. The handgun was seized at the scene.

Scott was arrested without incident. He was transported to Upper Marlboro Central Booking in Prince George’s County for an initial appearance.

Scott has a court date for July 19, 2019 to be arraigned on charges of first-degree and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.  On June 20, 2019, Scott was released from jail.

Carroll County Sheriff Deputy Kevin Schue charged Scott with unsafe lane changing while operating his 2011 red Ford Mustang on Rt. 140 at Englar Road on Jan. 26, 2019 in Carroll County. Scott paid the ticket on Jan. 30, 2019.
