COURT NEWS: Former Georgetown Basketball Star Sentenced To 20 Years in Prison for The Attempted Rape of A Minor
Victor Page attacked 17-year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend; Three people pull him off the victim
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy announced today that former Georgetown University basketball player Victor Page, 44, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, suspending all but 20, for strangling and attempting to sexually assault his live-in girlfriend’s 17-year-old daughter.
In June 2019, Page pled guilty to first-degree assault and attempted fourth-degree sex offense in a plea agreement.
According to the sentence handed down by the Court, upon release, Page will also be on supervised probation for five years and must complete mental health evaluation. In addition, he must register on the Sex Offender Registry for 15 years.
“I am pleased that this case has been fully resolved and that we were able to hold Mr. Victor Page accountable for his despicable actions and that he cannot harm anyone else for a very long time,” States Attorney Braveboy said. “I also applaud this victim and her family for having the courage to stand up to Mr. Page throughout this process in the criminal justice system.”
States Attorney Braveboy said that on the night of December 30, 2018, Page forced his way into the victim’s bedroom and pushed her to the ground, started strangling her and attempted to remove her clothing.
She managed to get away and made it to the parking garage of the apartment complex where she, her mother and Page all lived. However, surveillance cameras in the parking garage revealed that Page caught up to her, forced her to the ground, and began strangling her for a significant period of time. Several individuals from the apartment complex arrived at the parking garage and three people were able get Page off the victim.
