SALISBURY, MD.  – One of the things most drivers learn about stop signs is the necessity to stop for stop signs. That lesson can be impaired by boozing it up while tooling down the highway in a 2017 Cadillac, which is what police say was the activity that a Salisbury drug addiction counselor was doing. Maryland State Police report that on Sept. 25, 2019, at about 6:10 pm, Troopers from the Salisbury Barrack were dispatched to the area of Mt. Hermon Rd and Carey Ave for a report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries.

but as happens all too often, the boozing driver isn’t hurt but the person he wrecked was.

Police say that Troopers found two vehicles to be involved in the collision. The driver of the Cadillac was identified as Shushen Joshi, 56, (DOB 05/07/1963) of 1310 Foggy Bottom Road, Salisbury, Md., who was not injured, but as happens all too often, the boozing driver isn’t hurt but the person he wrecked was. That driver was operating a 2013 Honda Odyssey and was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Joshi was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI/DWI and transported to the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack where police say he refused a chemical test and was released on citations.

Joshi has a date with a Judge in Wicomico District Court on Dec. 3, 2019.  Joshi will also have to explain why he feels he is so special he can drive without a driver’s permit and was decorated by Maryland State Trooper M. Perdue with a dozen or so other related traffic charges.

Joshi apparently has a friend in Queen Anne’s States Attorney Lance Richardson who dumped another DWI charge that had been placed against him on July 26, 2019. The job of a prosecutor is to seek justice and time will tell if Wicomico States Attorney Jamie L. Dykes can get it right for his newest DWI arrest.

 In a plea deal with Richardson, and represented by attorney William Seth Mitchell of Salisbury, Joshi entered a guilty plea in Queen Anne’s Circuit Court to failing to return to the scene of a collision involving property damage in a wreck that took place on Oct. 23, 2018 and was arrested by Maryland Trooper C. E. Sagal, of the Centreville Barracks..  Charges of possession of drugs, negligent driving, failing to drive right of the center along with various DWI charges were all dumped by Richardson, who often allows DUI drivers to skate – especially when they hire a tough DUI lawyer to argue their case in court.

Being in possession of drugs is nothing new for Joshi, as he was arrested by Wicomico County Sheriff Deputy D. Hamilton on Dec. 29, 2009 and charged with four drug charges, all of which were put on the Stet Docket by the Wicomico County States Attorney on June 22, 2010.

Another drug charge netted Joshi six months in the slammer on June 28, 2012, as he wound his way through drug courts, community service, and increased self-help meetings. Drug charges were racked up with convictions in 2007 and 2008.

Shushen Joshi is listed on LinkedIn as an addiction coach for recovery in Salisbury, Md., and makes this statement with the listing: “I have a very simple why (sic) to become happy, clean, and sober. please email me to find out more.”

Given the arrest record for DWI in 2019, it is apparent that Joshi is still building his resume to be a coach for others.
