HEROIN HIGHWAY TO HELL: Carl Lee Fadely just won’t fade away and keeps coming back for that wonderful stuff

SELBYVILLE, DELAWARE – A carload of worn-out druggies from Maryland and Delaware were nabbed by the Delaware State Police on Dec. 19, 2019.  Included in the interception of the Heroin Gang were two characters caught by Worcester deputies in 2017 but given easy treatment by the lazy prosecutors of Worcester County when their cases arrived in court.

On December 19, 2019, a traffic stop was conducted and those in the vehicle were identified as Kathleen J. Tamalavicz, 68 of Bishopville, Maryland and Carl Lee Fadely 3rd, 57 Bishopville, Maryland.

As a result of this investigation and search of the vehicle, the following items were seized:

  • Approximately 40 bags of heroin
  • Drug paraphernalia

Police report that on Thursday, December 19, 2019, members of the Delaware State Police Sussex Drug Unit (SDU) and the Governor’s Task Force (GTF) concluded a three-month drug investigation that involved Janie C. Handy and Herbert Handy and the alleged sale of illegal drugs at a residence located on Polly Branch Road Selbyville, Delaware. Both suspects were known to reside at and sell drugs from the residence on Polly Branch Road, say police. The investigation also resulted in multiple vehicle stops with the seizure of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Search and seizure warrants were obtained for the residences as a result of the investigation. The search warrants were executed by DSP GTF and SDU with the assistance of the Delaware State Police Troop 5 and Troop 7 PACE team as well as the probation officers assigned to the Governor’s Task Force.

Delaware State Police report that on November 26, 2019, a traffic stop was conducted and those in the vehicle were identified as Elizabeth Meekins, 41 of Ocean City, Maryland, Wendy Lynn Scott, 51, (DOB 10/06/1968) of 104 Philadelphia Ave., Ocean City, Maryland and Thomas Peacock, 25 of Selbyville, Delaware.

Delaware State Police report that as a result of this investigation and consent search of the vehicle, the following items were seized:

  • Approximately 19 bags of heroin

Upon execution of the search warrant at the residence on Polly Branch Road, Herbert Handy and Janie C. Handy were taken into custody without incident.  Janie Handy was found in possession of over $530.00 in suspected drug proceeds.  As a result of the search of the property and vehicle stopped leaving the property, the following items were seized:

On December 19, 2019, Herbert Handy, 56 of Selbyville, Delaware was charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Heroin). He was processed and arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,000.00 secured bond.

  • On December 19, 2019, Kathleen Tamalavicz, 68 of Bishopville, Maryland was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Heroin) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was processed, arraigned before the Justice of the Peace and released on a $500.00 unsecured bond.
  • On December 19, 2019, Carl Lee Fadely 3rd, 57, (DOB 04/27/1962) of 12212 Cygnet Lane, Bishopville, Maryland was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Heroin) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was processed, arraigned before the Justice of the Peace and released on a $1000.00 unsecured bond.
  • Carl Lee Fadely 3rd was charged on Dec. 10, 2019, by Ocean City Police Officer Corey Gemerek with three counts of possession of heroin and heroin equipment.  The charges were related to an incident that took place on July 17, 2019, which was prime time for selling heroin to junkies at the Boardwalk. Fadely will face a preliminary hearing on these allegations on Jan. 13, 2020.
  • On November 26, 2019, Elizabeth D. Meekins, 41 of Ocean City, Maryland was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin), Conspiracy 3rd, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  She was processed, arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on an OR bond.
  • On November 26, 2019, Wendy Scott, 51 of Ocean City, Maryland was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin), Conspiracy 3rd, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts).  She was processed, arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on an OR bond.
  • On November 26, 2019, Thomas A. Peacock, 25 of Selbyville, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin), Conspiracy 3rd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was processed, arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on an OR bond.

Thomas Alan Peacock (DOB 07/19/1994) also resides at the same address as Wendy Lynn Scott in Ocean City and has a past address on Lighthouse Road in Selbyville, Del.  Following his arrest by Ocean City Police Officer Michael Dzurnak on five charges (three of them felonies) of forgery and possession of stolen documents to obtain goods, the charges were put on the Stet Docket on March 25, 2019, in Worcester County District Court.  The taxpayers of Maryland provided him with a free attorney to arrange the plea deal which resulted in no time and no fine.

Elizabeth Dawn Meekins, 41, (DOB 02/03/1978) of 7100 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Md., was charged by Maryland State Police Trooper Brandon Wilson on June 14, 2019, with possession with the intent to distribute drugs and theft of a vehicle. On Oct. 11, 2019, Anne Arundel States Attorney Anne Colt Leitess dropped the charges.

 On Sept. 15, 2017, Peacock entered a guilty plea to possession of heroin in Worcester County District Court and was sentenced to ten days in the county jail.  A charge of malicious property destruction was put on the Stet Docket as part of a plea deal with the Worcester States Attorney.

Worcester County Sheriff Deputy Kyle Hayes charged Carl Lee Fadely with multiple heroin and paraphernalia charges on March 17, 2017, at approximately 6:34 pm when he conducted a traffic stop in the area of Muskrattown Road and Cygnet Lane – a short distance from where the persistent drug dealer holes up.

Kathleen-Tamalavicz has a lifetime of drug convictions preceding this new arrest.

Deputy Hayes found that the vehicle was occupied by Fadely and Kathleen Joyce Tamalavicz, an aging junkie also of Bishopville, Md.

A search of the vehicle yielded 17 bags of suspected heroin, 1 bag of suspected cocaine, 2 hypodermic syringes and 2 8mg packets of suspected Suboxone.

Fadely was charged with:

  • Possession of paraphernalia

 Tamalavicz was charged with:

  • Possession of Heroin
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Suboxone
  • Possession of CDS Admin Equipment
  • Possession of Paraphernalia

Tamalavicz was taken before a District Court Commissioner where she was held on a $15,000 bond. Mr. Fadely was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held on a $25,000 bond.

When it came time for the Worcester County States Attorney Oglesby to throw the book at this couple, a plea deal was struck which resulted in a simple misdemeanor charge of possession of heroin, to which Fadely entered a guilty plea and the balance of the charges was dropped. THE DEAL: Fadely was sentenced on May 17, 2017, to thirty days in Worcester County Jail.  The hapless taxpayers of Maryland provided the funds to pay Fadely’s free attorney.

Carl Lee Fadely III entered a guilty plea to second-degree escape in Worcester County Circuit Court on July 12, 2017, following a failure to return to jail when scheduled. The plea deal with Worcester States Attorney Beau Oglesby resulted in a jail sentence of six months in the slammer.

A guilty plea from Fadely to a charge of possession of heroin on July 21, 2017, that occurred with his arrest by Worcester County Md. Deputy Sheriff Michael Newcomb on Feb. 19, 2017, resulted in a jail term of sixty days in jail. Other drug distribution charges were dropped by Oglesby.

Carl Lee Fadely III entered a guilty plea to DWI-Drugs on Nov. 19, 2008, in a plea deal with the Worcester County States Attorney Joel Todd in Worcester County Circuit Court. THE DEAL: Fadely was sentenced to thirty days in the county jail.  Ocean City Police Officer Allen Hawk arrested Fadely on the DWI-Drugs charge on March 3, 2008, as he operated a 1997 GMC on 62nd Street at Rt. 90 in Ocean City, Md.
