ANNACOSTIA, D.C. – With the soaring murder rate in the District competing with PG County and the City of Demons, otherwise known as Baltimore, the homicide Dicks of DC have been able to scratch a line through the open case of another dearly deceased from lead poisoning in the District of Columbia.
D. C. cops had the perpetrator in custody in 2019, for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, however, the prosecutor for the District dropped the charges and Glenn Dolford was released back into the population of Washington, D. C. where six months later he allegedly took a life with the use of a gun.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch on June 25, 2020, announced an arrest has been made of a suspect in a homicide that occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2020, in the 4300 block of 3rd Street, Southeast.
At approximately 4:08 pm, on that cold day in February, officers of the Seventh District responded to that location for the report of a shooting.
Police say that officers located an unconscious adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DCFEMS) responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A second adult male victim was located at the listed location, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
DCFEMS transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Additionally, a third adult male victim was located after he sought treatment at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The dead victim was identified by D.C. Police as 26-year-old Raheem Murray, of no fixed address. WUSA9 reporter Bruce Leshan interviewed the father of the murdered man who provided video of the murder and how the accused killer returned to where the fallen victim lay on a sidewalk and using an assault-style weapon, filled Murry with lead once more.
Dennis Fair interviewed by WUSA reporter Bruce Leshan about the murder of his stepson.
“I don’t understand why anyone would stand over him with an assault rifle to be sure he was killed and dead,” Dennis Fair, Murray’s stepfather and a retired D.C. police officer, said. “There was no thought. No fear for police. It’s a miracle none of those children got hit, because an assault rifle in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it and just jump out spraying bullets, it’s a miracle.”
“Every time they show that George Floyd situation, with the police officer with his knee in his neck, and I’m not condoning that, show that video of that man with the assault rifle standing over Raheem and shooting him in his head, to make sure he was dead,” Fair said. “Raheem’s life mattered to.”
Fair said his wife still wakes up in the middle of the night screaming, ‘Why did they kill him like that?’
Fair said his son wasn’t perfect, but said he didn’t deserve to die like this.
“It’s my understanding there is some kind of long-running feud in the neighborhoods,” Fair said. “But what could be going on between neighborhoods that you’re going to bring an assault rifle?”
On Thursday, June 25, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 26-year-old Glenn Dexalonte Dolford, (DOB 07/01/1993) of 716 Adrian Street, Southeast, Washington, D.C.; 1359 Bryant Street, NE., DC., and also of 9913 Good Luck Road, Apt. T-2 Lanham, Md. He was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated). Dolford’s nickname is “Thoink, Thoinky”.
Statement of Charges
- On Sunday, February 2, 2020, at approximately 1608 hours, members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District heard the sounds of gunshots in the area of 4300 3rd Street, Southeast. The members began canvassing and located an adult male victim in front of 4327 3rd Street, Southeast. The decedent, identified as Raheem Murray, was unconscious, unresponsive and was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. Shortly after, the members located Victim 2 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS were summoned to the scene and, after finding no signs consistent with life pronounced the decedent dead at 1624 hours under the authority of Dr. Robert Holman.
Victim 2 was transported to MedStar where he was admitted in critical condition. Shortly after, Victim 3 arrived at United Medical Center suffering from gunshot wounds to the buttocks and arm. Victim 3 was treated for his injuries and released. The decedent remained on scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy was performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
- On February 3, 2020, Dr. Giese of the District of Columbian Medical Examiner’s Office, performed an autopsy of the decedent Raheem Murray. Dr. Giese ruled the cause of death to be from multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death being homicide.
- During the initial processing of the scene, several items of evidence were recovered to include twenty-eight (28) .223 caliber shell casings and twenty-eight (28) 7.62 x 39 mm shell casings and bullet fragments that were spread throughout the street and sidewalk.
- During the investigation, detectives located multiple video cameras in the area of the crime scene. The video depicts all three victims standing at the base of a staircase in the 4300 block of 3rd Street, Southeast, that leads up a small hill to 4th Street, Southeast. The video shows a 4 door, blue/gray, Honda Accord with tinted windows, drive south past the three victims.
Detectives observed that the Honda Accord was possibly a 2018 or 2019 model and did not have DC registration stickers in the window, nor a Virginia Inspection sticker displayed on the windshield.
6. A short time later, the Honda returns travelling north. As it approaches, it slows down and comes to a stop just past where the victims were standing. Both front and rear passenger doors open and two gunmen get out of the vehicle, one from the front passenger seat and one from the rear passenger seat, and open fire on the three victims.
7. The victims began to run, at which time two of them fall to the ground. The gunman who was seated in the rear passenger seat, herein referred to as S-I , is described as a black male, wearing white shoes, light colored jeans with slits in or around the knees, a black (possibly Canada Goose) jacket with fur on the hood, and armed with an assault rifle that had an extended high capacity magazine. As S-I exited the vehicle, he immediately advanced towards the decedent. Once S-I was standing alongside/Overtop of the decedent, he pointed the assault rifle at the decedent and fired at least once. The second shooter, herein referred to as S-2, exited the front passenger seat and was wearing light colored pants, a dark jacket and dark shoes, and did not advance towards the victims, only firing shots from the street. Both shooters returned to the vehicle and fled the area.
8. Members of the Homicide Branch became aware of a burned vehicle that occurred approximately (I) hour after the homicide at 1715 V Street, Southeast (20-020132). Detectives learned that the burned vehicle was a 2018 Honda Accord that was blue/gray in color bearing an MD Tag 9DE7534. The vehicle was stolen out of Prince George’ s County, Maryland, on January 31, 2020, with OCA# 20-0006306-001.
A warrant for felony unlawful possession of a firearm was issued by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on July 6, 2019 for the following statement of charges:
The event on 07/05/2019 at approximately 17:10 at 2639 BIRNEY PLACE SE, WASHINGTON, DC 20020.
The following offenses occurred at approximately 1700 hours on July 5, 2019, outside of 2639 Birney Pl. S.E., in Washington, D.C, which is in Patrol Service Area 703.
Officers Lawrenz, Smiley, Thomas, and Olivo were working the evening tour of duty as Crime Suppression Team 11, operating an unmarked police vehicle and in full uniform. All of the transmissions were conducted over the 7D main channel, 7D tactical channel, and 7D OPS A.
Officer Thomas received reliable information that Defendant Glenn was within the past 24 hours was in Washington, D.C., and in possession of and brandishing a small handgun. At that time, Defendant Glenn was in a group of individuals where multiple people were brandishing guns. In at least one instance, a handgun was stored in a small satchel.
On July 5, 2019, at approximately 1705 hours, officers received reliable information that Defendant Glenn was next to 2639 Birney Place, S.E., and was next to and dancing with a different individual who was publicly brandishing a firearm. Defendant Glenn was wearing a satchel during this time.
Upon receiving this information, officers immediately responded to 2639 Birney Pl. S.E. Officer Smiley observed Defendant Glenn congregating with a small group of individuals near the parking lot adjacent to 2639 Birney PI SE. When Defendant Glenn Dolford noticed the presence of law enforcement, Defendant Glenn abruptly sat down awkwardly behind a vehicle to conceal himself from the police. Officers noticed that Defendant Glenn Dolford was wearing a small satchel. Furthermore, the other members of the group did not attempt to conceal, flee, or otherwise evade law enforcement. Based on the officers’ experience in that area in conjunction with the recent information discovered, officers knew that such satchels are commonly used as holsters to conceal handguns from law enforcement.
The area of the 2600 block of Birney Pl. S.E. is known to the officers as an area with a large amount of firearm violence to include shootings. Due to such activity, MPD has stationed a 24/7 detail (police officer stationed) in the block to help prevent violence. Additionally, MPD has installed a crime-camera with lights and MPD logo in order to deter firearm violence. Most recently, there was a shooting on 06/24/2019 at 2638 Birney Pl. S.E.
The officers believing that Defendant Glenn was armed with a firearm and posed an immediate threat of life to the other members of the group he was near Officer’s Lawrenz and Olivo stopped Defendant Glenn Dolford. As soon as Officer Lawrenz began to place Defendant Glenn Dolford in handcuffs, Defendant Glenn Dolford tried to yank his left arm out of Officer Lawrenz’ control and toward his satchel. Officers secured Defendant Glenn in handcuffs and conducted at protective pat-down where they felt a hard object in the Defendant Glenn’s satchel that Officer Olivo immediately recognized as that of a firearm. Officer Olivo secured the firearm until the Department of Forensic Science recovered the weapon at the 7th District Crime Suppression Office. Upon further inspection the firearm was found to be a Smith & Wesson M &P Shield, 9mm, bearing a serial number of: HYN8910, containing 1 round of ammunition in the chamber and 8 rounds in the magazine.
A WALES/NCIC Check conducted on D-l revealed that D-l did not have a license to a carry a firearm in the District of Columbia or any registration for firearms or ammunition. The firearm was also unregistered.
A JUSTIS Database Query revealed that D-l was found guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the District of Columbia on 03/10/2017 and was sentenced to 24 months of incarceration (2015CF2015173).
The firearm appeared to be fully functional, designed to be fired by the use of a single hand, had a barrel length of less than 12 inches, and designed to expel a projectile by means of explosive force.
D-I was placed under arrest for Unlawful possession of a firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. D-1 was transported to the 7th district station for processing.
The United States Attorney for DC. Jessie K. Lui dropped the charges on July 24, 2019, thus making Dolford available to end one more life of a black resident of the District of Columbia.
MURDER USA: District Police charge killer in slaying of Richard Mitchell
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced on June 25, 2020, an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2020, in the 2500 block of Elvans Road, Southeast, in the Barry Farms neighborhood.
At approximately 1:02 pm, Police officers of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
Police say that Jonathan Jenkins, 28, has been charged with the murder of Richard Mitchell, 25, of Oxon Hill, MD.
On Thursday, June 25, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Fugitive Regional Task Force (CARFTF) arrested Jenkins, formerly of NE Washington, D.C. Jenkins was charged with Second Degree Murder.
