BEACH BUST: ST. MARY’S THUGS GREAT OCEAN CITY ADVENTURE WITH STOLEN WHEELS ENDS IN SLAMMER

OCEAN CITY, MD – When low-life thugs from the crime town of Lexington Park head for the beach, they like to go in style and according to Ocean City police three St. Mary’s County residents stole a vehicle to get to the sand, surf and fun.

Police say that on June 10, 2021, at approximately 04:34 a.m., Ocean City Police Communications issued a broadcast to officers that the License Plate Reader (LPR) alerted them that a stolen vehicle was entering Ocean City eastbound on Route 50.

Officers were in the area of N. Division Street and Baltimore Ave when they observed the vehicle from the broadcast at the stoplight at N. Division Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of 3rd Street and Baltimore Ave. The vehicle failed to stop and fled northbound on Baltimore Ave. Officers pursued the vehicle to the area of 45th Street and Coastal Highway. Due to safety concerns related to vehicle speeds, the pursuit was called off.  After the termination of the pursuit, the vehicle was observed by officers turning onto Hitchens Ave. The three occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. All three suspects were located in the area, two of which were located on private property marked with “Private Property No Trespassing” signage. All three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

With the combined efforts of the LPR system, police communications personnel, and the quick response of patrol officers, the following three arrests were made by Ocean City Police Officer Chelsea Kautz:

JASMINE ROLONDA CARTER, 19, (DOB:06/03/2002), of 44465 MANE POOH LANE, Valley Lee, MD: Motor vehicle/unlawful taking, unauthorized removal of vehicle, theft $1,500 to under $25,000, reckless endangerment, obstructing & hindering, driving vehicle on highway at speed exceeding the limit by 1-9 mph, reckless driving vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for safety, driving vehicle in excess of reasonable and prudent speed on highway, attempt by driver to elude uniformed police, failure to drive vehicle on right half of the roadway when required, driver failure to obey designated lane directions, driver fail to stop at steady circular red signal, driver failure to stop at stop sign line, driver fail to make required stop, driver failure to obey properly placed traffic control device, driving changing lanes when unsafe, negligent driving, attempt by driver to elude police in official police vehicle and attempt by driver to elude uniformed police by fleeing on foot. Carter was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and held without bond. A bond of $10,000 was posted on June 11, 2021.  A court appearance is set for August 4, 2021 in Worcester County District Court in Ocean City, which will give Carter time to select another vehicle to steal to get back to the beach for court to say that she is innocent of all charges or the Devil made her do it – or maybe something else.

Jasmine Rolanda Carter was charged by the St. Mary’s States Attorney on December 18, 2020, with conspiracy to commit a perverted practice and misdemeanor theft. A trial is set for July 9, 2021, in St. Mary’s District Court with Columbia attorney Clarke Ahlers representing her in the case.

SHAEKWON TALIB JACKSON, 20, (DOB 01/07/2001) of 21865 – B PRIMROSE WILLOW Lane, Lexington Park, MD: Motor vehicle/unlawful taking, unauthorized removal of the vehicle, theft $1,500 to $25,000, obstructing & hindering, trespass-posted property, an attempt by the driver to elude police in an official police vehicle by fleeing on foot, and an attempt by the driver to elude uniformed police by fleeing on foot. Jackson was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released on an unsecure bond of $3,000. Jackson will be back in the Ocean City action on August 3, 2021, when he has been set to appear in District Court.  A bond was posted, and Maryland taxpayers will be overjoyed to learn that they will be paying for his free attorney.  Jackson got a plea deal from St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz on June 2, 2021, when a traffic charge of reckless driving was given a verdict of Probation Before Judgement when he entered a guilty plea.  Jackson is on probation for six months, which should kick in backup time in hoosegow with this new arrest.  The fine of $510 was deferred; perhaps he can work it off in prison by making license plates.

ANTONIUS AUSTIN CARTNAIL, 20, (DOB 10/3/2000) of 45681 BUCKSHOT WAY, Lexington Park, MD: Motor vehicle/unlawful taking, unauthorized removal of the vehicle, theft $1,500 to $25,000, obstructing & hindering, trespass-posted property, an attempt by the driver to elude police in an official police vehicle by fleeing on foot, and an attempt by the driver to elude uniformed police by fleeing on foot. Cartnail was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released on personal recognizance.
