TWO SHOOTINGS IN ST. MARY’S COUNTY: Two adults have been flown to trauma centers after gunfire at teen center in Great Mills; second scene near Lexington Park
UPDATE: Shooting at Chancellors Run Park basketball court is now a homicide. Man shot in the head now is dead.
EDITOR’S NOTE: St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron has dubbed a new crime enforcement effort in the crime town of Lexington Park as his YOUTH GUN VIOLENCE TASK FORCE. All of the arrests by this team of deputies in Lexington Park reported in this article are adults, none are youths.
GREAT MILLS, MD. – St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron reports that the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department is currently working on two shootings; one in the 20800 block of Daisy Lane in Lexington Park and one in the teen center at the Chancellors Run Road county park in Great Mills.
Cameron says that the two shooting victims have been flown to area trauma centers for treatment.
Both victims in the shootings under investigation are adults.

Street Vender Ready To Deal Coke, Pot and Suboxone, say Police
Sheriff Cameron reports that on Saturday, June 12, 2021, St. Mary’s Sheriff Deputies were on foot patrol as part of a crime prevention initiative in the 21800 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, when an individual was observed discarding a clear, plastic bag.
The item was recovered by the deputies and determined to contain suspected cocaine. Police say that the individual who discarded the item was identified as Antonio Leroy Hines, 40, of Lusby. Hines was arrested and located on Hines was an additional plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and packages of suspected Suboxone. Hines was transported to the St. Mary’s Jail in Leonardtown and charged with two counts of CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana.
Indictment: drug dealer was packing heat
On June 11, 2021, St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Jermaine Anthony Bell Jr., 26, (DOB 06/19/1994) of 21210 Winding Way, Lexington Park, Md., on an outstanding Circuit Court Indictment for the following charges:
- Firearm/Drug Trafficking Crime
- CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute-Narcotics
Trial in Circuit Court for Bell has been scheduled for October 27, 2021.
DOUBLE THE TROUBLE FOR DETERMINED ALLEGED DEALER
LEXINGTON PARK, MD. – A Lexington Park wannabe criminal king was busted again with drugs and gun charges, barely six months after being indicted for drug and gun charges by the St. Mary’s Circuit Court Grand Jury. Those criminal counts were filled on December 7, 2020 and are pending trial on September 29, 2021.
Sheriff Tim Cameron reports that on June 4, 2021, St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Department deputies conducted a vehicle stop in the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.
The vehicle was approached by deputies and the odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle, Tyquan Samuel Wills, 21, (DOB 06/22/1999) of 48188 Hillside Drive, Lexington Park, Maryland, was observed attempting to conceal an unknown item between the seat and center console of the vehicle. Wills exited the vehicle, and a large bulge was observed in his pants pocket.
Wills allegedly assaulted a deputy on the scene and attempted to evade apprehension by resisting arrest. Wills was ultimately taken into custody and located on his person was a substantial amount of cocaine and marijuana. Located inside the vehicle where Wills was observed hiding an item was a loaded handgun.
Wills was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Jail in Leonardtown, and charged by St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Beyer with the following:
- Loaded Handgun on Person
- Loaded Handgun in Vehicle
- Handgun on Person
- Handgun in Vehicle
- Firearm/Drug Trafficking Crime
- CDS: Distribute with a Firearm
- CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana (two counts)
- CDS: Possession-Marijuana more than 10 Grams
- CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute (three counts)
- Assault Second Degree-Law Enforcement Officer
- Resisting Arrest
Wills has a preliminary hearing on June 25, 2021 in St. Mary’s County District Court and in being held in the hoosegow in the meantime.
