KEVIN LUTHER WAS ARRESTED AT HIS HOME IN LEXINGTON PARK, MD., AND IS PROCESSING FOR INDICTMENTS FOR CAUSING THE DEATHS OF TWO PERSONS IN A DWI CRASH THAT TOOK PLACE ON AUGUST 31, 2021.

The St. Mary’s County Circuit Court Grand Jury on September 12, 2022, indicted Kevin Eugene Luther, of 46385 Shining Willow Lane Unit D, located in Patuxent Park West, with sixteen counts for his alleged role in killing Sheri Lynn Guthrie and Gayle Hilda Kanney on August 31, 2021. The fatal crash took place when Luther, charged with being impaired, drove his Audi across the center line of Pegg Road just off of Rt. 235, and into a vehicle occupied by the victims, a mother, and daughter, killing them both. Another impaired driver crashed into the fatal crash scene. Duane Reese was sentenced to a year in jail by Judge Michael Stamm for his DWI.  Reese was carrying a loaded gun and drugs in his vehicle.

The indictment of Luther came only after reports were made to the States Attorney’s Office that Luther was planning on skipping the country by fleeing to Costa Rica.  The Maryland State Police Fugitive Apprehension Team was tasked with snatching Luther from his residence in Lexington Park on September 14, 2022.

The indictments against Luther include felony manslaughter, criminal negligence, felony manslaughter with a vehicle, criminal manslaughter while under the influence, two counts of felony homicide with a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, and failing to control speed to avoid a collision.  Luther was booked into the St. Mary’s County Jail on September 14, 2022.

In April, Luther refinanced his home on Shining Willow Way, according to Maryland land records.

On 8/31/2021, Kevin Eugene Luther, 40 of Lexington Park, MD was arrested by Tfc J. Powis and still not brought for trial in the death of two victims; INDICTMENTS PENDING?

Blood results for Luther were completed prior to the end of 2021 but instead of pursuing justice for the victims of this horrific crash that took the lives of a mother and daughter, St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz spent all of his time pursuing yet another term in office. Fritz was soundly beaten in the GOP primary on July 19, 2022, by States Attorney Elect Jaymi Sterling.

LEXINGTON PARK, MD – Pegg Road is often the scene of fatal crashes as high speeds and reckless driving send innocent victims to the grave. Add to the mix of the cultural ghetto of Lexington Park, filled with drug dealers, junkies, and veteran criminals, traveling on Pegg Road is a recipe for disaster.

At the scene of a crash on Pegg Road, a Lexington Park man crashed into St. Mary’s County public works truck as police and EMS worked to sort out the mayhem.
