COURT NEWS: Screwball with record of domestic violence let gunfire fly through traffic on Rt. 301; Maryland Judge Andrea Watkins let him out of jail with an ankle bracelet
LA PLATA, MD. – A Maryland District Court Judge who allowed a man out of jail after he had assaulted a woman and then murdered her in a Waldorf motel is at it again letting dangerous domestic predators out of jail. This time, Maryland District Court Judge Andrea Watkins has enabled a man with a ten-year history of being a danger to women to be out of jail after he allegedly fired a gun across the busy Rt. 301 in Waldorf.
Patrol Officers Arrest Suspect in Reckless Endangerment Case / Two Firearms Recovered:
On January 6, 2022, at 9:10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Department patrol officers responded to the 2000 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of someone firing a gun.
Police say that their preliminary investigation revealed a male was in a car in the parking lot of a business when he fired several rounds from a handgun toward (Rt. 301) Crain Highway. No one was struck even though there is a traffic count on the major highway of over 50,000 vehicles daily.
Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry reports that officers located the man, Jamaar Lavone Young, 35, (DOB 06/11/1986) of Indian Head, Md.
Police report that Young was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment. A search warrant was served on Young’s vehicle and officers recovered two firearms from his car; one had been reported stolen.
On January 7, 2022, court records show that Maryland District Court Judge Andrea Watkins released Young on personal recognizance on the condition he obtain electronic monitoring.
