WICOMICO SHERIFF NEWS BEAT Alleged Cocaine Street Team Jailed; One May Eat the County Broke While In Slammer

SALISBURY, MD – The trouble with locking up rotund and tubby drug dealers, er, alleged drug dealers, but definitely fat ones, is that the taxpayers have to feed them while they are in the slammer.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis reports that the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team (CAT) conducted an investigation into Taurean McFarlin selling controlled dangerous substances from multiple residences in Wicomico County, MD. 

The Sheriff says that multiple search and seizure warrants were obtained for residences in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Md that McFarlin utilized to further his suspected drug dealing operation. On January 5, 2022, the search warrants were executed on all three residences by investigators.

The Salisbury Police Tactical Team executed a search and seizure warrant in the 1600 block of Waconia Drive.

 Just prior to the execution of the search warrant, Taurean McFarlin was stopped in a vehicle leaving the residence.

Police say that Darian Collins was located inside the residence. A search of the residence revealed 97.34 grams of crack cocaine, 48.58 grams of compressed cocaine, 206.41 grams of marijuana, 2 digital scales, and packaging material.  McFarlin and Collins were both arrested and transported to WCSO.

Simultaneously, the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at an additional residence located in the 1600 block of Waconia Drive.  No additional evidence was located at the residence.

The Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team executed a third search warrant in the 400 block of Overbrook Drive Salisbury, MD. A search of the residence revealed a loaded polymer 80 semi-automatic handgun with a large extended magazine.  Additionally, 3.22 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, and packaging material were located at the residence. It was determined through this investigation, that the cocaine and the handgun belonged to a resident, Donnie Dunton.  It was further learned, Delisa Dunton allowed the residence to be used to further drug operations including Taurean McFarlin’s operation.

On January 24, 2022, the Wicomico County Grand Jury issued criminal indictments for all four subjects.  Collins was originally held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center but was released the following day on a 10,000 bond. McFarlin is held without bond at the Wicomico County Jail. Donnie Dunton is held without bond at the Wicomico County Jail. Delisa Dunton was served with a criminal summons.             

Suspects:

  1. Taurean Depre McFarlin (38 years of age)
  2. Darian Lamont Collins (44 years of age) (DOB 02/20/1977) of 1606 Waconia Drive, Salisbury, Md.  Collins has a free attorney provided by the Taxpayers of Maryland, Josephine Schlick of Salisbury Public Defender’s Office.  Bond was set at $10,000 and was posted on January 6, 2022.
  3. Donnie Ray Dunton (30 years of age) (DOB 02/07/1991) is presently a resident of the Wicomico County Jail and represented by attorney David Moore, of Salisbury. A preliminary hearing was set for February 17, 2022 and was cancelled when the case was forwarded to Wicomico County Circuit Court for a jury trial. District Court Judge Abigail Marsh ordered Dunton held without bail in the Wicomico County Jail.
  4. Delisa Sevee Dunton (35 years of age)

  • Possession with intent to distribute cocaine
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Maintain a common nuisance to distribute a narcotic
  • Manufacturing a narcotic
  • Narcotic production equipment (2 counts)
  • Possession of paraphernalia

Collins:

  • Possession with intent to distribute cocaine (Felony)
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana (Felony)
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of marijuana

Donnie Dunton:

  • Possession with intent to distribute cocaine (Felony)
  • Possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime (Felony)
  • Possession of cocaine (Felony)
  • Narcotic production equipment (Felony)
  • Possession of paraphernalia (3 counts)
  • Maintain a common nuisance to distribute a narcotic

Delisa Dunton:

  • Maintain a common nuisance to distribute a narcotic
