MURDER USA: Ex-Con Drug Dealer Darryl Parks Charged with Murder of Isaiah Alexander Woodland at Big Dogs in Paradise; Erin Nicole Battle charged as accessory to first-degree murder

MECHANCISVILLE, MD. – A man who was shot to death at 1:15 am on March 25, 2023, in the parking lot of the notorious Big Dogs in Paradise Bar was identified as Isaiah Alexander Woodland, 18, by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department and the accused killer is identified as an ex-con and drug dealer from Suitland, Maryland, as Darryl Carlton Parks Jr.

The criminal investigation team reportedly found out the identity of who killed Woodland shortly after beginning their investigation at the hellhole bar located on Rt. 5 in Mechanicsville, across the highway from the old Bert’s Drive-in.

  Big Dogs in Paradise, which has been the scene of prior mayhem, including the infamous biker murder in 1994, which took place just after noon on a Sunday when a gang of bikers beat a man to death in the parking lot of the establishment, then known as the Mouse Trap.

In the Woodland homicide, Darryl Carlton Parks Jr, 29, is charged with the murder of Woodland. With the assistance of Washington Metropolitan Police, Parks was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, use of a gun in a violent crime, and reckless endangerment.

The all-time favorite crime for criminals using guns in violent crimes is the illegal possession of a regulated firearm, as criminals really don’t care what a bunch of yahoos in the Maryland General Assembly create with gun laws and generally steal guns, buy them illegally and fail to abide by gun laws leaving only peaceful citizens burdened with an abridgment of second amendment rights by kooky politicians.

Perfect Storm of Leniency Towards Criminals and Insanity of Changing Sex

This crime brings together the failure of the Maryland Judiciary to exact accountability from those who deal drugs in the community, in the case of the accused killer, and of the current trend of insanity that a person can change their identity by applying makeup, eyeliner, wigs, and hairstyles and using hormones and surgery – in some cases so males can compete against females in sports or simply sashay into a woman’s restroom or locker-room.  

Regardless of the actions of the victim to be attending entertainment at the Big Dogs in Paradise, Woodland was a minor and should not be allowed in the bar. Woodland’s desires for a fad, fashion, or sexual identity fail to provide any reason for a dedicated criminal such as Darryl Parks or anyone to take the young man’s life.  

Parks should have been in prison, but due to the liberal fashion of failing to enforce the law, in this case, Charles County States Attorney Anthony Covington and his plea deal that, instead of putting Parks in prison, allowed him out of the slammer after only nine months instead of his twenty-years of his sentence, led him to be at Big Dogs in Paradise, armed with a gun and take the life of Woodland. The perfect storm of a confused young man looking for love in all the wrong places and a predator drug dealer, Darryl Parks, looking to deal in all the right places, led to homicide.

Parks likes to Beat Women and Deal Drugs

Past arrests and convictions for Parks include drug distribution in Charles County, Maryland, and domestic violence in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Jasmine Ceasar requested a domestic violence stay-away order against Parks on June 26, 2014, in District Court for Prince George’s County. District Court Judge Tiffany Hanna Anderson issued a final order on July 3, 2014. Prince George’s States Attorney Angela Alsobrooks approved a plea deal for Parks on May 10, 2016, when he was charged with malicious property destruction and put the charge on the Stet Docket.

Darryl Carlton Parks Jr. entered a guilty plea to drug distribution in a plea deal with Charles County States Attorney Anthony Covington on October 6, 2017, in Charles County Circuit Court, with Judge William R. Greer Jr. presiding.  The plea deal called for a sentence in prison of twenty years and all of the sentence suspended with the exception of nine months. The plea deal allowed Parks to serve the sentence in the local slammer in Charles County and avoid incarceration in the Big House in Jessup.

Darryl Carlton Parks Jr received a plea deal from Prince George’s States Attorney Alsobrooks on charges of reckless endangerment and having a handgun on his person for an arrest by Prince George’s Police Officer Dalton. The gun charge was dropped by Alsobrooks on November 3, 2017, with a plea to reckless endangerment resulting in some jail time, although court records are not clear as to how much time in the slammer was ordered, only that Parks was committed.

A Gofundme effort is in the process to raise money for the funeral of Woodland, with more than $7,000 raised thus far. The description for the fundraiser was written by a person who claims to be the Aunt of Woodland and, speaking for others, says that Woodland’s confusion over his identity was accepted by his family.

 The gunfire in the parking lot of Big Dogs in Paradise when Woodland presented himself as a female to an abusive, violent offender armed with a gun shows that acceptance of the lifestyle was not universal. 

Woodland, like any other citizen, deserved the protection of the law, which would have been achieved had Charles County States Attorney Covington kept Parks in prison where he belonged or Prince Georges States Attorney Alsobrooks (Alsobrooks was elected County Executive in 2018) bothered to prosecute the gun charge to the full extent of the law. 

As a result of the failures of the two prosecutors, a young life is taken by a deadly criminal. Upon conviction, Parks should spend the rest of his miserable life behind bars in unspeakable misery.

 Woodland’s brief life is gone, and friends and family are left with immeasurable grief while the politicians gab, gather in campaign events, and croon about how they fight for justice and keep the community safe.  Both Alsobrooks and Covington had the chance to make a life for Woodland safe and live in justice, and both of these sad-sack politicians failed.
