NOT TOO MANY MORE MILES TO THE BIG HOUSE AFTER FLEEING FLEETFOOTED FLATFOOTS

LEONARDTOWN, MD (September 20, 2023) – According to St. Mary’s Convict Sheriff Steve Hall, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, following a vehicle and foot pursuit, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department Deputies apprehended and arrested Ky’ree Truvell Miles, 27, (DOB 8/26/1996) of 22000 Baja Lane, Great Mills, Maryland.

Hall stated in a premier press release that Miles was observed by Deputy Bradley Kirscht while working the “Slow Down St. Mary’s” initiative in the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Deputy Kirscht confirmed Miles had an active arrest warrant for first-degree assault.

A traffic stop was initiated, and Miles failed to stop his vehicle in an attempt to elude Deputies.  During a short pursuit, Miles’ vehicle struck a curb, and he then fled on foot. Following a brief foot chase, Miles was apprehended by Deputies Preston Dixon, Austin Welch, and Joseph Senatore, who recovered multiple small baggies and currency Miles discarded while fleeing. The recovered bags were identified as containing suspected crack cocaine, which were packaged in a manner consistent with drug distribution.

St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Department Corporal Lacey Smith and her K9 partner Kyra were also instrumental in the drug arrest, in which Hall provided a photo display that included alleged drugs and a spread of one-dollar bills.

Miles has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession with Intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia and is being held at the St. Mary’s County Jail.

Maryland State Trooper C. Baden filed a statement of charges alleging second-degree assault by Miles on September 13, 2023, for an incident that took place on September 1, 2023, and has a preliminary hearing set for November 17, 2023, in St. Mary’s District Court. Maryland taxpayers will be overjoyed to learn that they will provide a free attorney for the alleged miscreant.

Prior arrest for an outstanding warrant:
On May 13, 2019, Ky’ree Truvell Miles, 22, of Great Mills, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Firearm Possession: Felony Conviction, Regulated Firearm: Illegal Possession, Regulated Firearm: Stolen/Sell, Illegal Possession of Ammunition, and Handgun on Person by Det. Fennessey.

St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Department Deputy John Davis arrested Miles for misdemeanor theft, and in St. Mary’s District Court before District Court Judge Robyn Riddle, Miles entered a guilty plea in a plea deal with St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz on September 21, 2017. The Plea Deal resulted in Miles being sentenced to 18 days in the Hotel St. Mary’s with all of the jail time suspended.

St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Department Detective Austin Schultz arrested Miles for a theft scheme, and the charge resulted in a plea deal with St. Mary’s States Attorney Fritz on September 21, 2017, in District Court, where Miles entered a guilty plea and was given a sentence of eighteen months in jail.  Another criminal charge of possession of drugs, not marijuana, resulted in the disposition of eighteen months. Multiple violations of the terms of probation took place in 2019, which resulted in probation being revoked and Miles being sent back to the Hotel St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s State’s Attorney Richard Fritz agreed to a plea deal for Miles on a charge of second-degree assault in St. Mary’s District Court on February 16, 2016, with Miles entering a guilty plea and picking up a sentence of sixty days in jail with all but thirty days suspended.
