CHEAP SHOTS: Boo Hoo, says Sterling; Hats Off to Hewitt and Davis; ONLY DOING THE JOB TO SERVE PUBLIC …. BUT…Woe is me cries most officials

St. Mary’s Elected Officials Moan Over Low Pay – Except for Commissioner Mike Hewitt (who voted against raiding taxpayers pockets for new tax hikes)
and School Board Member Jim Davis

A Comic Opera about crying that they only hold office for public service is served up like sausage and gravy for duping the Compensation Commission, which is tasked with hiking the pay of elected officials. Where is the government panel that decides when to chop the pay of these bozos whenever they raise taxes? Bring out the torches and pitchforks! Should citizens circle the Governmental Center and cut off their heads and stick them on pikes as a warning to future elected officials to quit screwing the taxpayers?

“I-was-working-80-hours-a-week-seven-days-in-the-first-six-months,”-says Sterling, who notes that private practice attorneys make tons more bucks, even into the millions in DC. She says she heads the largest law firm in the county with a staff of fifty. If they have so many prosecutors, why are there so many plea deals cut that send criminals out on the street?

MIKE HEWITT: Pay is fine; we are here to make policy, not money.

(Best Commissioner on the Board – he voted against raising your taxes and says no pay hike is needed for county commissioners.

Mike-Hewitt-“this-is-not-a-hard-job.”

ONLY 18 HOURS A MONTH, NO PAY HIKE NEEDED FOR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS, SAYS JIM DAVIS. GIVE THIS GUY A ‘HATS OFF’ FOR BEING ONE OF THE FEW HONEST ELECTED OFFICIALS IN MARYLAND.

Davis:” My opinions are my own. This is a part-time job. All members are not here for the money.” Davis said he “did the metrics” and figured that the post required 18 hours a month during his eight years in office, and at about $75 an hour, it was fair compensation.

First, Scott Ostrow ran for office, campaigning for lower taxes. Second, he raised your taxes two years in a row. Third, he wants a raise.

ST. MARY’S COUNTY COMMISSIONER SCOTT OSTROW CAMPAIGNED ON LOW TAXES AND RAISED TAXES TWICE – NOW SAYS COMMISSIONERS ARE AN EXECUTIVE-LEVEL JOB IN NEED OF MUCH HIGHER PAY…Just wait until voters get a crack at this guy in 2026…

Randy Guy says he has to go to Annapolis each week to lobby for St. Mary’s but forgot to mention the Commissioners hired a lobbyist to lobby for the county…and he uses a county vehicle to motor up Rt. 4…says he just does the job to serve the public. (He raised taxes) and at the end of his term he is hightailing it to North Carolina…(Good riddance, you tax hiker!)
Randy Guy was elected to go to Leonardtown each Tuesday, not Annapolis; the county has a State Senator and three Delegates to work for the interests of St. Mary’s County.
Randy Guy is like a wounded duck, not knowing which way it is back to his pond. Someone needs to stick a weathervane up his butt so he knows which way it is to travel to his actual job.

Babs becomes President of the St. Mary’s Commissioners and knows how to keep the Board in the dark.

PAY RAISES FOR ST. MARY’S COMMISSIONERS? BULL FEATHERS!
If the pay is so niggardly, why do so many people run for county commissioner, election cycle after election cycle, decade after decade?

St. Mary’s County Treasurer Jan Norris was elected treasurer from 1994 to 2014.

With the pay going up for Treasurer so fast will this, as the all-knowing elite say, trigger ‘good’ people to run for office?
