WALDORF, MD. – Jason Raymond Castro Jr. was one of three bozos spotted in a parked car that seemed suspicious to a Charles County Sheriff Officer in Waldorf. When the officer began to poke into what nefarious deeds could be afoot, Jason Castro beat feet but was captured by the fleetfooted flatfoot.

On August 24, 2024, at 2:10 a.m., officers were conducting a neighborhood check when they observed a vehicle parked in the area of Thomas Hardy Place in Waldorf.

Sheriff Troy Berry reports that Officers made contact with three occupants and detected the odor of cannabis. While conducting an investigation, one of the passengers fled from the car on foot. He was apprehended by Charles County Sheriff Officer Richard Swann and found to be in possession of a loaded handgun with an extended magazine in his waistband.

Jason Raymond Castro, Jr., 20, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm, a handgun in a car, and a handgun on the person. The remaining subjects were released.

Court records show that on August 26, 2024, District Court Judge Patrick Devine ordered Castro held without bond at the Charles County Jail, pending a hearing on October 11, 2024.
