Large Drones Spotted in Southern Maryland Near Military Targets, Silence from Officials
Southern Maryland residents were left alarmed and mystified last night as over 30 drones, described as the size of pickup trucks, were spotted flying in formation over the region. Eyewitness accounts indicate the drones were heading toward high-value military installations, including facilities linked to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and other critical defense infrastructure.
The sightings began around 8:30 p.m., with residents in St. Mary’s, Charles, and Calvert Counties reporting the massive aerial vehicles moving silently across the night sky. The drones reportedly flew at a relatively low altitude, making them highly visible and causing concern among those who saw them. Some witnesses described flashing lights on the machines, while others noted their eerie lack of sound for their size.
We’ve seen military exercises before, but nothing like this. These things were huge and coordinated, like something out of a science fiction movie.
Attempts to obtain information from local, state, and federal authorities have yielded no answers so far.
Adding to the mystery, no military or private organizations have claimed responsibility for the drones. Local aviation experts have speculated that the drones could be part of a classified military exercise, but the lack of communication from authorities has only fueled speculation. Some residents have taken to social media to express fears about the drones being part of a foreign surveillance operation or a potential threat.
The drones were last seen heading eastward toward the Chesapeake Bay, sparking rumors they may be targeting naval assets stationed there. There have been no reports of military aircraft intercepting or tracking the drones.
For now, residents remain in the dark about the identity and purpose of these massive drones. Authorities are urging anyone with photos, videos, or additional information to report their observations to local law enforcement or the FAA.
Drone sightings in Maryland and New Jersey prompt calls for more oversight
After several sightings reported throughout New Jersey, House members a part of the Homeland Security subcommittee questioned FBI leaders on Tuesday about the drone sightings.

Drone concerns are mounting across the country after multiple sightings in New Jersey for the last few weeks. It’s even led to New Jersey lawmakers calling for a limited ban on drone flights until the public receives answers about the sightings.
Now, there have also been sightings in Bowie, Maryland.
“We see at least 3 to 5 different drones in the sky,” said Autumn Stasulli, who captured videos of drones outside her Bowie home. “I was shocked. My mouth dropped.”
The discovery came moments after Stasulli said she and her sister were talking about another pair of drone sightings in New Jersey.
She said she’s lived in Bowie her whole life and has never seen a sight like this.
“It was very unsettling afterwards, because I’m like ‘oh my goodness. It’s happening here in Bowie, Maryland,’” Stasulli said. “Why Bowie? Bowie is such a quiet, quiet town,”
