LEXINGTON PARK, MD: UPDATE – Shortly after his marriage to his wife, Chaquanda Latice Pressley, was ended, Jayson David Pressley (DOB 05/26/1986) of 21613 Liberty Street, Lexington Park, Maryland, decided to end the life of his ex-wife. And, according to the Maryland State Police, he allegedly took that action in a blaze of gunfire on January 3, 2025, in broad daylight, providing a grand spectacle of fear to a neighborhood in Lexington Park already worn out and frustrated by a daily abundance of out-of-control crime.

After firing multiple gunshots at his wife, Pressley appeared at the St. Mary’s County Jail and surrendered, likely even before police knew he was complicit in the homicide that the Maryland State Police were investigating.

Following being interviewed by detectives with the Maryland State Police Criminal Division, Pressley was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and use of a firearm in committing a felony violent crime. District Court Commissioner Brett Crocheron ordered Pressley held without bail until he is taken before the District Court Judge for a bond hearing on January 6, 2025, in Leonardtown District Court. A Preliminary Hearing is set for January 28, 2025.

Maryland Court records show that St. Mary’s Circuit Court Judge Amy Lorenzini granted the couple a divorce on September 20, 2024. The St. Mary’s Circuit Court Family Magistrate Kevin Hill, conducted a hearing on April 19, 2024, regarding custody and visitation matters in the complaint for divorce first sought by Jayson Pressley on October 6, 2023.
