EDITORIAL: St. Mary’s GOP is bloated with RINOS and tax-hiking Good Old Boy former Democrats that don’t care about taxpayers and hell-bent to allow leftists to install their socialist values by failing to build a strong Republican ground team

St. Mary’s County, MD — The Republican Central Committee (RCC) of St. Mary’s County is failing and failing big. The first meeting of 2025 was a complete disaster, showing exactly why the Democrats are running circles around them. With all the momentum from a vast national GOP victory, you’d expect energy, strategy, and leadership. Instead, we got chaos, excuses, and a stunning lack of action.

Democrats work like a well-oiled machine—methodical, ruthless, and relentless. Meanwhile, the RCC can’t even put together a decent website. It is a broken, outdated site with no bylaws, mission statement, or event calendar. How do you inspire people or build a movement when your committee can’t communicate? You don’t. It’s embarrassing, and it needs to change.

Attendance at the meeting was abysmal. Three members didn’t even show up, and one left early. This is the leadership we’re supposed to trust to take on the Democrats? While the RCC is floundering, the Democrats organize, recruit, and energize voters. They’ve infiltrated schools, churches, and community groups, building networks and pulling in support. They are laser-focused on winning, and guess what—they’re succeeding.

The RCC, on the other hand, has wasted opportunity after opportunity. Remember the Republican Club at St. Mary’s College? There was great potential there, but the RCC dropped the ball. No follow-up, no connection. Democrats, meanwhile, have been locking in young voters with innovative, targeted outreach. What about local churches? The RCC gave up on that, too, after one negative response. The Democrats? They’re working the system, building coalitions, and expanding their influence while Republicans sit around making excuses.

And let’s talk about elections. The Maryland GOP told county committees to start planning for local races. Seems obvious, right? Not to this group. They’re just now thinking about it, while Democrats have been plotting for years. In Calvert County, Republicans started early and dominated. In St. Mary’s, they are falling behind. And when it comes to school board races, one of the biggest battlegrounds, the RCC’s approach is laughable. Democrats are running on emotion—playing to fear and values—and they’re winning. The RCC has no message, strategy, or game plan.

This isn’t just about incompetence. It’s about survival. The Democrats are playing to win, and they’re playing dirty. Their campaigns are slick, emotional, and calculated. They know precisely how to push people’s buttons and don’t stop. The RCC, meanwhile, can’t even agree on a message, let alone inspire people to fight back. It’s pathetic, and the clock is ticking. If they don’t act now, they risk losing St. Mary’s County to the Democrats and, with it, our values and way of life.

But there’s hope if they act now. Calvert County’s GOP leaders are stepping up to help. They’ve shown how it’s done and want St. Mary’s to succeed, too. The February 6th meeting is a chance to reset and bring new energy and ideas. But make no mistake, the RCC needs an overhaul. It requires strong leadership, real organization, and a clear, bold message that fires people up. They must start by updating their website, increasing their outreach to young voters, and developing a comprehensive strategy for local races.

The Democrats are coming for St Mary’s County, and they’re not messing around. They are methodical, ruthless, and committed to their agenda. If the RC doesn’t wake up, they’ll lose the county altogether. It’s time to stop the excuses, stop the dysfunction, and start fighting like our country, and our country depends on it because it does.

The 2026 Election will be a turning point for St Mary’s County. The GOP has national momentum, but it’s time to seize it at home. Bold action, strong leadership, and a team ready to take on the Democrats’ machine will be needed. The time for change is now, and we must act with urgency to ensure the future of St Mary’s County.
