POLITICS: How in the World Did St. Mary’s County Wind Up with Far-Left Brian Crosby as a Delegate?

POLITICS: How in the World Did St. Mary’s County Wind Up with Far-Left Brian Crosby as a Delegate?

LEXINGTON PARK, MD. – To understand how an out-of-touch liberal whose voting record includes support for the single greatest detrimental piece of anti-small business legislation in the history of Maryland, coming just one year after the enactment of the record-setting electric bill hike due to another law supported by Del. Brian Crosby (D. Lexington Park, District 29-B) is to reflect on how such complete boob of a lawmaker won office in the first place.

First, what has this kook been up to:

Crosby supported a bill that eliminated competition for Maryland residents’ electricity suppliers, resulting in record-setting boosts in home electric bills. Despite having a law degree, Crosby is a defense contractor and has not practiced law. His employer deals with lots of contracts with intelligence agencies, and apparently, his job hasn’t caused any intelligence to rub off on him.

Crosby was an Army Ranger and likes to pose as a tough guy, touting his military service when he campaigns before the election. Good for him for serving his nation overseas. However, he fails to fight for his constituents, wants radical sexualization of children in public schools, and supports legislation that raises taxes, which will cause Maryland businesses to flee the state while those who can’t afford to do so will wither on the vine.

Who does Crosby like?

Crosby likes the big smiling, big taxing, big phony Governor Wes Moore, who lied about being awarded a Bronze Star.  After being caught with stolen valor, Moore snuck in a Biden General to a closed press event to allegedly pass a Bronze Star to Moore in a secret ceremony more than ten years after lying about receiving the medal when applying for a White House fellowship. Perhaps the medal was picked up in a pawn shop or purchased on eBay. Who knows? The ceremony was kept private, much like the backroom decisions that go on about awards for the Key Bridge construction project. Only at some time in the future will the truth ever come out to a Grand Jury after whistleblowers tell us where the loot really has gone in the Tax Moore Administration.

In the Middle of a Budget Crisis, Crosby finds a way to make Killing Babies Comfortable.

To understand who Del. Brian Crosby likes, look at the bills he has sponsored in the current session of the legislature, particularly HB 0930, which expands abortion in Maryland.  The bill is opposed by some groups, such as Moms for Liberty, citing the following concerns:
1. Use of Taxpayer Funds for Abortion This bill would allocate taxpayer money toward expanding abortion access, which many oppose on moral, ethical, or religious grounds. Public funds should not be used to support a procedure that is highly controversial and opposed by a significant portion of the population. 2. Prioritization of Healthcare Spending Maryland faces pressing healthcare challenges, including maternal healthcare, infant mortality, mental health services, and rural healthcare access. Instead of expanding abortion services, state funds should be directed toward supporting prenatal care, adoption services, and resources for pregnant women. 3. Forcing Insurance Premiums to Fund Abortion HB930 mandates that certain insurance premium funds be used to expand abortion access. This forces individuals and businesses that may morally oppose abortion to indirectly contribute to its funding, infringing on their freedom of conscience. 4. Expanding Government’s Role in Abortion Services The bill would establish a government-managed program and fund dedicated to abortion services, further entrenching government involvement in an issue that should be left to private healthcare providers and individuals. 5. Incentivizing Increased Abortion Rates By increasing public funding and access to abortion services, the bill could encourage more abortions rather than promoting alternatives such as adoption, parenting support programs, and crisis pregnancy centers. 6. Lack of Parental and Community Oversight If the program funds abortion services for minors without parental consent, it undermines parental rights and family involvement in critical healthcare decisions.

WEST POINT GRAD LIKELY TO MAKE RACE FOR DELEGATE;
 OPPOSES CROSBY’S RADICAL AGENDA

Republican William B.J. Hall, a West Point graduate, veteran, and father of four sons who describes himself as a man of deep faith, was an unsuccessful contender in a four-way contest for the GOP nomination for St. Mary’s Commissioner President in 2022.  Hall was a St. Mary’s Planning Commission member and is now considering a race to represent District 29-B in 2026 and unseat Crosby. Hall campaigned in 2022 for ‘efficient government to get rid of waste’ while promoting community partnerships that prevent crime. Hall served a term as president of the St. Mary’s NAACP.

Hall had this take on the new funds proposed by Crosby to be distributed to abortionists.

“With a $3 billion deficit and $200 million already cut from services for the disabled,” said Hall, “I’m baffled as to why we’re prioritizing grant money for abortion providers.”

Hall was also opposed to dealings with Crosby over teaching gender identity in schools from pre-K forward and removing the ability of parents to opt out of having their children groomed by teachers.

“Our local teachers already face the tough challenge of improving student proficiency in core subjects like math, reading, and science,” Hall told THE CHESAPEAKE TODAY. “Adding gender identification to their list of instructional concerns only distracts from the fundamental skills our students need to succeed.”

Tax Moore Pulling the Old Shell Game on Tax Hikes

The current administration of Gov. Wes Moore has received a blowback of a velocity and magnitude never before seen in Maryland politics with the business-to-business two-and-a-half-percent tax. The furor over the possibility of McCormick leaving Maryland as the loons of the left pursue penalizing every business in Maryland to insolvency finally put the not-to-be-trusted Wes Moore on his haunches and started to back off on the proposal. But no one should trust this Pirate King when he says he is pulling back when it could all be a typical political shell game.

When an auto body shop owner in St. Mary’s County drops off his packet of invoices and payroll information to his bookkeeper, that bill that month for the bookkeeping services will now have an extra 2.5 percent Maryland Business to Business tax added to it, courtesy of Del. Brian Crosby. That will happen each month of the year. The bookkeeper will also be charged a tax for each customer that month and his auto body shop owner’s account. Each month, every month.

When the beauty parlor owner takes her package of bills and invoices to her bookkeeper, the same drama of this notorious new tax will be added to her monthly expenses and to her bookkeeper. Not one single business in St. Mary’s County will escape this tax.

For electoral clarity, Delegates Todd Morgan and Matt Morgan, both Republicans, did not support this new tax and worked hard to attempt to defeat it. Their work was in vain, as the Maryland General Assembly is controlled by the largest gang of pirates, radicals, socialists, and vermin ever to populate the Statehouse. Given the illustrious history of thieves and crooks who have slithered through the sewers and bars of Annapolis while grinding sausage into laws, that is saying something.

Crosby knows what is best for families, as he has created his own family in the last couple of years. That makes him an expert on what is best for your family. Crosby decided that you must surrender your children to the teachings of the government, starting in Pre-K and on up to high school, when it comes to gender indoctrination. The radicals, weirdos, whack jobs, and multifaceted nutcases pushing the sexualization of children in school have a firm ally when it comes to Del. Brian Crosby.

Brandon Russell, a running mate of Crosby on the 2022 Democratic ticket in St. Mary’s County, testified in Annapolis on the indoctrination bill, HB 161.

“My name is Brandon Russell, and I am a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. I serve as Vice Chair of Pride Southern Maryland, a nonprofit responsible for hosting an annual LGBTQIA+ pride event. Additionally, I represent the Southern Maryland region as a Commissioner on the Maryland Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs. My experience with these organizations provide unique insight, though I must stress these views are my own and I am not speaking on behalf of any organization.

I urge a favorable report on HB161: Comprehensive Health Education Framework.”

Brandon Russell was the Democrat running against Republican Mike Hewitt for county commissioner in 2022.

OUT-OF-TOWN BIG MONEY IS DRAWN LIKE A
MAGNET TO CROSBY’S CAMPAIGN VAULT

To understand who Delegate Brian Crosby likes, look at his campaign financing reports filed with the Maryland State Elections Board.

Crosby likes big garbage, big utility, and anyone who can give him big bucks. Lots of bigwigs from Montgomery County, an oasis of looney liberals wallowing in high taxes, have donated to Crosby’s campaigns since he was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2018.

Crosby has next to nothing in common with St. Mary’s County citizens. He is flying high with the fat cats and likely is rather embarrassed to represent the land of the flask, the fiddle, and the dark-roasted possum.

Crosby has learned his way around Annapolis’s money holes. In his first campaign in 2018, he raised $101,836. In 2022, $356,350 poured into his campaign kitty. Aside from other Democratic Party officials, the major contributors to Crosby have been labor, finance, insurance, real estate, lawyers, lobbyists, energy and mining, oil interests, and communications.

Big outfits, like Open Road Renewables LLC in Houston, Texas, believed giving Crosby $6,000 was good for their business.

Cherry Cove Group LLC, which owns hotels and the Lord Calvert Mobile Home Park in Great Mills, which recently floated a plan to dump out several hundred residents who had no place to move their mobile homes, most of them who bought them from Cherry Cove and its companies in past years, wrote a check to Crosby’s campaign for $6,000. Brian Norris, owner of Cherry Cove, contributed $4,800 to Crosby’s campaign fund.

Baltimore Gas & Electric, which does not serve residents of St. Mary’s County but, with Crosby’s support, was able to erase all competition, gave Crosby $5,750.

S. Hunt AERO LLC, which only supports Democrats with contributions, provided Crosby with $7,500.

Hoyer Campaign Committee provided $12,000 to Crosby’s war chest.

Noted liberal John Weiner, who is notoriously frugal, forked over $7,209 to Crosby’s campaign fund. Weiner doesn’t live in Crosby’s district, but not too far away.

Rapid Financial Services LLC located in Montgomery County, saw something promising in Crosby as a rising star in the Maryland General Assembly and Vice-Chairman of the Economic Matters Committee, which deals in issues affecting their business.

NOT A GOOD YEAR FOR DEMOCRATS – Sen. Roy Dyson, Del John Bohanan, and Commissioner President Jackie Russell all went down to defeat in St. Mary’s County in 2014 as voters got tired of the same old tax and spending policies. THE CHESAPEAKE TODAY photo

THE ANSWER: Okay, you’ve made it to the end of this recitation of what makes Brian Crosby an out-of-touch elitist completely incompatible with the center-right residents of St. Mary’s County without finding the answer to the question posed at the outset.

Here it is.

In 2014, St. Mary’s County had enough of the double talk and duplicity of the Dyson-Bohanan dynasty. Roy Dyson got his start in politics in 1974 by following the mantra of listening to people. Bohanan did the same. As time passed, Dyson’s head was turned in Washington by the old power and money merry-go-round and the leap from a tall building in New York City by his political guru and chief of staff. In 1990, Dyson was shown the door by the voters in the First Congressional District after serving five terms.  In 1994, with only his home stomping grounds to appeal to for election, Dyson won the first of five terms in the State Senate. By 2014, Dyson lost his way again, and his arrogance began to take a toll on the desire of voters to overlook his quirks and tossed him out in favor of a virtual unknown, Steve Waugh, who, it turned out, wasn’t a really good choice either. However, the rinse and wash and repeat led to Jack Bailey being elected in 2018, and Bailey is a real improvement over Dyson or Waugh.  Bailey has good instincts and common sense, and when it comes down to adding up the score on a politician, that’s about as good as it gets. Bohanan fell into the same pattern of arrogance that his brother-in-law did. In the deeply religious Catholic County of St. Mary’s, Bohanan ticked off all those he hadn’t already peeved by voting for record levels in the gas tax by voting to approve same-sex marriage. St. Mary’s voters are pretty live and let live about life, but giving two men the same title of marriage as a man and a woman not only didn’t set well, but his vote was the exact opposite of his statement on the issue in 2010 when he roared that marriage is only between a man and a woman.  Therefore, in 2014, voters sent Bohanan packing and elected Del. Deb Rey to the House of Delegates. Rey went to Annapolis with good intentions, but nobody gave her a compass, and most of the issues she was utterly correct about with her views were being decided in a big building populated by another band of pirates located at the southern end of the Baltimore Washington Parkway.  In 2018, Mary Bohanan’s revenge was fully felt, not because her husband wanted to win back his seat, but because he was making hundreds of thousands more each year pedaling his contacts at Capitol Hill and in Annapolis as a lobbyist. The Hoyer machine money and vast network of money makers threw lots of money into Crosby’s race, and he beat Rey. In 2022, a combination of the continuation of the fountains of flowing moola into the hot tub of Crosby identity politics made for a sauna of victory when added in with the newly acquired cheating of mail-in ballots that the Democrats have become very proficient. Top it off with a nice dose of Rino Republicans colluding against Rey, and Crosby sealed a second term as Delegate.
