On April 14, 2025, an adult male was shot multiple times in the chest while on October Place in Waldorf, Maryland, and was transported to a hospital, where he survived his injuries.

Through investigation, detectives identified Earl Tyree Porter, 30 (DOB 12/16/1994) of 3008 Charleton Court, Waldorf, Maryland, as the primary suspect in this case. Due to Porter’s transient lifestyle, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was contacted to assist in locating him.

PORTER SHOT VICTIM IN THE FACE WHEN CRASHING A PARTY IN WALDORF IN 2012

On July 11, 2012, Charles County Sheriff’s detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division arrested Earl Tyree Porter, 17, of Waldorf, in connection with a shooting that occurred at a party on July 7, 2012, in the 4900 block of Derryfield Court in Waldorf. Porter and a group of friends showed up at the party, uninvited, after hearing about it through social networking. Porter began arguing with several people at the party and pulled a handgun and fired multiple shots. One of the rounds struck a 19-year-old male in the face. Porter fled, and the victim was transported to a hospital where he was admitted in stable condition. Detectives subsequently identified Porter as the shooter and obtained an arrest warrant charging him as an adult with attempted murder. Porter was located at his residence and arrested without incident. Evidence linking Porter to the shooting was also recovered. Porter was remanded to the Charles County Detention Center with no bond.

Porter was convicted of use of a firearm in a violent crime and first-degree assault in Charles County Circuit Court on March 15, 2019, and sentenced by Circuit Court Judge William R. Greer Jr to 20 years in prison on the charge of assault, with all but five years suspended. On the gun charge, Judge Greer sentenced Porter to 15 years with all, but five years suspended.
