MICHAEL STRAWMEYER CHARGED AND JAILED WITH THREATENING THE LIFE OF A REPUBLICAN VIRGINIA DELEGATE

PETERSBURG, VA. – With political assassinations taking place across the nation, a Virginia man is cooling his heels in a jail cell pending a meeting with a judge. Michael Ray Strawmeyer was booked by the Dinwiddie County Sheriff on September 25, 2025, and charged with threatening the life of Virginia House of Delegates Member Kim Taylor (Republican District 82). As of Sept. 28, 2025, Strawmeyer, 33, of Patillo Road, DeWitt, Va., is still incarcerated and held without bond in the Meherrin River Correctional Facility.

Strawmeyer was arrested by Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Lt. D. A. Gunn and charged with felony threat and will face arraignment on September 29, 2025, in Dinwiddie District Court.  Virginia court records show no prior criminal history.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said Taylor’s campaign manager reported earlier in the day that the campaign had received a text message threatening the delegate’s life. Investigators developed a suspect and arrested Strawmeyer at 2:15 p.m. 

According to her campaign website, Kim Taylor is a Virginia Native and the current representative in the House of Delegates District 82. Raised in Sussex County, Kim attended Virginia public schools and graduated from Sussex Central High. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University.

Kim and her husband, Andrew “Butch,” are small business owners of three auto repair shops in Chesterfield County. Their businesses employ 30 families and provide impeccable service to customers in the community.
