Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee Kills “Condoms for Kiddies” Bill Supported by Del. Brian Crosby (D. St. Mary’s)

Annapolis, Md. – This morning, (Feb. 28, 2025), during its scheduled voting session, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee killed HB 380, which would have allowed condoms to be sold in vending machines in nursery schools, preschools, and elementary schools. Over the past week, the bill has gained national attention.

Republican committee members led the effort, leading to the decisive vote to kill the bill.

“This is a victory for parents across Maryland,” said Senator Mike McKay (Allegany, Garrett & Washington). “I am proud of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for swiftly voting this down and recognizing that it was wholly inappropriate and a massive overreach of state government.”

“It’s absolutely unconscionable that this bill passed the House,” said Senator William Folden (Frederick). “I’m thankful common sense prevailed today, and the bill was killed, but unfortunately, bills like this are concerning and are becoming the norm in Maryland.”
