OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 17, 2020): In what used to be a boring family beach town where miniature golf, sunburns, and visits to Trimpers Arcade were the main events, a weekly assault of vicious crimes where gangs take turns kicking victims in the head and stomping as others join in have become featured fare on Facebook live.

Ty’ant Kiaun Gibson, (DOB 09/17/2001), of 40 North Summit Street, Harrisburg, Pa., charged on June 11, 2020 as a fugitive from justice from Pennsylvania and ordered held without bond in the Worcester County Jail.  On June 11, 2020, Gibson waived extradition. Gibson was charged with drug distribution, possession of more than ten grams of marijuana, handgun on his person, use of an assault weapon, possession of firearm by a minor, possession of a loaded gun.

OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 17, 2020): The Ocean City Police Department has worked thoroughly to identify and arrest suspects in recent assaults and unruly activity. Two examples of recent arrests include the seizure of an AK-47 firearm and a separate case for a first-degree assault. The information on these cases are below:

Seizure of an AK-47 Firearm: On June 10, 2020, Ocean City Police located a city ordinance violation involving several subjects sleeping in a motor vehicle. Upon contacting the occupants, officers detected the odor of marijuana. The officers also learned one of the subjects had an active arrest warrant out of Harrisburg, PA for discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. Officers began searching the vehicle and located bullet holes in the rear tailgate of the vehicle. Officers also located marijuana, a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun, and a Century Arms Micro Draco 7.62 x 39 mm pistol (assault style handgun).

The following suspects were arrested:

  • Ijahmiere Miquel Mckinney, 19 (Harrisburg PA): CDS Possession with intent to distribute
  • Juvenile Male, 17, (Harrisburg PA) CDS Possession with intent to distribute
  • Juvenile Male, 16, (Harrisburg PA) CDS Possession with intent to distribute
  • Ty’ant Kiaun Gibson, 18, (Harrisburg PA) CDS Possession with intent to distribute, Loaded handgun on person, Possession of a Firearm minor, Assault weapon/mag use, CDS: Distr Etc. W/Firearm, Firearm/Drug Traf Crime

Ty’ant Kiaun Gibson, (DOB 09/17/2001), of 40 North Summit Street, Harrisburg, Pa., charged on June 11, 2020 as a fugitive from justice from Pennsylvania and ordered held without bond in the Worcester County Jail.  On June 11, 2020, Gibson waived extradition. Gibson was charged with drug distribution, possession of more than ten grams of marijuana, handgun on his person, use of an assault weapon, possession of firearm by a minor, possession of a loaded gun.

Suspect Arrested for First Degree Assault (Stabbing): At around 3:30 a.m. on June 13, 2020, the Ocean City Police Department received a call from Peninsula Regional Medical Center advising they were treating a victim of a stabbing that occurred in Ocean City. The initial investigation revealed a verbal altercation escalated into a physical altercation. During the physical altercation, the victim was hit with a stun gun, stabbed, and stomped by multiple suspects.

 Further investigation revealed the identity of the suspect, Alizae Giselle Lugo, 21, (DOB 04/15/1999) of 1305 Brandywine Street, (Lebanon PA) who was placed under arrest on June 14, 2020 for first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.  As of June 16, 2020, Lugo was still being held without bond in the Worcester County Jail.

Police said that the victim is expected to make a full recovery from this incident.

OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 16, 2020): The Ocean City Police Department has increased law enforcement presence on the Boardwalk and throughout town by 25% in response to various incidents that have occurred in the last few weeks in Ocean City. In order to keep residents and visitors safe, the department has redeployed officers and increased the presence of allied agencies. In addition to deployment, officers have been strictly enforcing all laws and ordinances, making 129 arrests over the past weekend (June 11-14, 2020), compared to 95 total arrests the same weekend of 2019.

“In recent weeks, Ocean City has seen unprecedented violence and unruly behavior in our town,” said Ocean City Police Chief Ross Buzzuro. “We are moving in the right direction. I want to assure our residents and visitors of the capabilities and commitment of the OCPD. We will remain vigilant and proactive in continuing to protect our town.”

OCEAN CITY, MD – : On June 9, 2020, between 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., Ocean City officers responded to two serious assaults on the boardwalk at 11th Street and 16th Street. Through the preliminary investigation, officers were able to determine the individuals who participated in both assaults.

OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 10, 2020): Ocean City Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the victim and suspects in an assault that occurred on Tuesday. The assault, which was captured in a viral video on social media, occurred at approximately 12:46 a.m. on June 10 in the area of 4th Street and the Boardwalk.

The preliminary investigation revealed a fight began at 12:43 a.m.  After nearly three minutes, the police finally received a 911 call for the altercation and officers responded to the scene. At the time of Ocean City police arrival, the crowd had already dispersed and the primary suspect and victim had left the area.

Two of the combatants had warrants out for their arrest and were taken into custody.

OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 16, 2020): On June 9, 2020, at 4:06 a.m. Ocean City police officers responded to an assault and robbery which occurred near 7th Street and Philadelphia Ave. The victim, a 21-year-old male, told police that he had just been robbed and assaulted.

Ocean City police officers and detectives completed an extensive investigation and were able to identify the suspect as Isaiah Foster, 20, of Cambridge, MD. An arrest warrant was issued for Foster.

On June 14, 2020, officers were monitoring a disorderly group near 9th Street and the boardwalk. While watching the group, an officer observed Foster in the area. As several officers’s approached Foster, he attempted to run, however, he was quickly taken into custody without incident.

Foster has been charged with robbery, theft of $100 to $1500, and second-degree assault. Foster was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and transferred to the Worcester County Jail where he is being held without bond.
