ANNAPOLIS, MD. – There are two in the Democratic Primary in 2026 for the House of Delegates District 29B and one in the GOP primary. Of the three candidates, two — GOP candidate BJ Hall and the new Democratic candidate — were once paramours.
Kris McDonald, of Hermanville, is now one of two candidates for the Democratic nomination for the House of Delegates in the district which stretches from California down to Ridge, over to St. Inigoes, Park Hall, and out through Valley Lee to Piney Point.
The newest candidate in the race is Adrianne (Dillahunt) Mathis, a St. Mary’s School Board administrator, vice principal, and equity coordinator, who resumed her maiden name, Adrianne Mathis, after her divorce from Linster Dillahunt in 2023. Mathis is the daughter of two-time unsuccessful Democratic commissioner candidate Elfreda Mathis, a retired St. Mary’s public school principal.
Adrianne Mathis Dillahunt makes a salary with St. Mary’s Public Schools in the range of $104,459 to $144,096 in her current position of Assistant Principal. Should she be elected to the House of Delegates, it is unclear how she could continue to work as an assistant principal, or would she return to her former post of finding ways to make those who are without merit or qualifications move ahead in school, so they could have an equal outcome with those who earn their achievements.
A former flame, William B. J. Hall III, resigned as President of the NAACP in 2022 and filed for the GOP nomination for St. Mary’s County Commissioner President, losing that race. Hall is now a candidate for the GOP nomination for the same seat in the Maryland House of Delegates. Mathis Dillahunt is also a member of the NAACP.
On Adrianne’s campaign website, there appear to be presentations of a much younger and different woman, with hairstyles and poses that are very unlike the photos of Adrianne in her professional positions and posts on social media posts. AI enhancements to photos are the rage today in boosting careers and enhancing political presence. An AI investigation on Grok on X assures that all the images are of the same person.
Mathis is a non-voting ex officio member of the Historic St. Mary’s City Commission.
In 2023, Mathis was taken to District Court five times for failure to pay rent and once more in 2022, on an apartment in Abberly Crest on Willows Road in Lexington Park.
Still using her married name, Adrianne Dillahunt, on deeds and mortgages, she paid $325,000 for a Townhome located in the Elizabeth Hills community, off Indian Bridge Road, at Bethmill Way, California, MD.
Court records show that the Leonardtown law firm of Williams, McClernan & Stack, LLC, filed suit in District Court against Adrianne Dillahunt, with a trial set for September 23, 2024. Dillahunt filed a notice of intention to defend on September 6, 2024, stating: “I entered a payment arrangement agreement 5/2023; the documents do not reflect the agreement. Incorrect residence address. I am interested in resolving the issue.” The law firm responded, according to court records, and on November 15, 2024, dismissed the case.
With the entry of Adrianne Dillahunt Mathis into the race and her past support of Del. Brian Crosby, it appears that the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates gave Crosby the message that, should he bother to run again, the money to crush him will be given to Adrianne Dillahunt Mathis. Crosby’s crazy tax hike on the same day he moved his business out of Maryland to avoid the tax on IT industries gave the legislature and state Democrats a well-deserved black eye. Crosby became a close ally in Annapolis to large energy companies that sought to eliminate competition and maneuvered himself into the pockets of any special interests or PACs that wanted to buy influence. Crosby also became the subject of controversy when he supported efforts to force all children from pre-K on up to undergo radical sexual gender indoctrination and to add rubber machines to elementary schools.
Mathis Dillahunt has enlisted Anne Marie Dailey, the campaign treasurer of Crosby, as her treasurer. It remains to be seen if Crosby can transfer his campaign fund balance to her or use it to salt some deals in Maryland. Dailey was also treasurer for the campaign of Julia Nichols for the House of Delegates in 2018.
A review of Mathis Dillahunt’s website reveals that she takes no stands on any issues and points out that she is a native of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, her mother is an educator, and she is an educator, making voters believe that she likely supports the educational system that generally is a failure in producing students competent in math skills or English language.
