At trial, according to a press release from St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz, Wilson’s mother, Jan Nave Barnes, a real estate agent in California, Md., who had posted bond for Wilson when he was arrested, asked Circuit Court Judge Sean Wallace to show leniency, claiming her son had been drinking and didn’t know what he was doing.
