MARYLAND STATE POLICE BEAT: Dopey Dope Dealers Should Refrain from Toking and Driving
ANNAPOLIS, MD. – Maryland State Police at the Annapolis Barrack reports that on September 3, 2018, at 11:38 pm, Trooper First Class Holson conducted a traffic stop on a black Toyota Venza on westbound U.S. Route 50 near Interstate 97 for exceeding the posted speed limit.
Police say that when TFC Holson talked to the driver, identified as Al Tariq Ishmael Ellis of 9900 Maidbrook Road, Parkville, Maryland, that the trooper immediately detected the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
According to police, a probable cause search revealed more than 100 grams of suspected marijuana contained in various plastic baggies and inside a single brown cigarette. A digital scale was also located during the search.
According to Barrack Commander Lt. M. Daugherty, Ellis was placed under arrest by Tfc Holson for possession of marijuana with felony intent to distribute, possession of marijuana greater than 10 grams, possession of paraphernalia and issued a traffic citation. Ellis was transported to the Anne Arundel District Court Commissioner’s Office where he was released on his own recognizance, so he could resume his craft and pursue his drug business unimpeded by jail bars. Ellis has a preliminary hearing in court in Anne Arundel County on Oct. 1, 2018.
