FATAL ROBBERY: Armed robber shot dead, another winged in 7-Eleven by pistol-packing customer
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. – Woe to the armed robbers who waltz into convenience stores where a Virginian is armed with a legal gun and is shopping in the store. Virginia Beach Police report that a gang that they believe had been committing armed robberies of 7-Elevens and other stores in and around Virginia Beach, robbed the wrong store and the wrong time and were greeted with a citizen who blasted them both, leaving one robber dead and the other hollering for a medic.
Police say that on July 24, 2019, at 2:10 am Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received a call for a shooting that had just occurred at the 7-11 located at 130 South Newtown Road.
Officers arrived on scene and located two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced deceased and the other was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators learned that the two males had entered the 7-11 and were attempting to commit an armed robbery of the store clerks. Another citizen, who was already in the store and in possession of a legal weapon, confronted and ultimately shot the suspects. An officer located a third person a short distance away from the 7-11 and took him into custody.
Police say that earlier in the evening, at 12:28 am, another armed robbery was committed at the 7-11 located 1010 Pacific Avenue. During that incident, three armed males entered the store and robbed them of cigarettes and smoking devices. There were no injuries reported during this event.
Police say that they believe the gang of robbers are responsible for both overnight robberies in Virginia Beach as well as others that occurred in other jurisdictions.
Police say that charges are pending on the suspect in custody.
