DIRTBAG ROUNDUP: Quince Orchard High School Assistant Wrestling Coach Dake Williams Charged in
Meth Importing and Child Porn Possession

GAITHERSBURG, MD. – The Maryland State Police report that various computer data devices seized during a drug investigation of a volunteer assistant wrestling coach at Quince Orchard High School in Montgomery County revealed a cache of some of the most disturbing child pornography discovered in recent years and described by police in court documents.

A statement of charges filed by Maryland State Police TFC Fitzgerald charge that Dake Edward Williams, (DOB 04/12/1991) of 14 Peach Leaf Court, North Potomac, Md., 20878, (a residence owned by John and Karlene Williams) was charged on Sept. 9, 2019 with multiple counts of child pornography that depicts young females about the age of 5 to 7 years old, engaged in vivid color images and video involved in sex acts with adult males and animals.

The unraveling of the import business of drugs and possession of child porn from Germany that Dake Williams was operating began when on Oct. 16, 2017, United States Customs Border Patrol Agents at JFK Airport spotted a package that was consistent with markings, shape, and size that could contain illegal narcotics.  The package was destined for an address in Gaithersburg, Md., and had originated in Frankfort, Germany.  Court documents reveal the package had been shipped by Rene Schmitz Leibnizstrabe, of Berlin and was addressed to Dake Williams at 124 Ellington Blvd., #513, Gaithersburg, Md., 20878.

Officers with the United States Customs and Border Petrol removed this target parcel from the mail-stream and conducted a subsequent border search. This search revealed a tan rock-like substance secreted within a foil pouch inside the shipment. An analysis of the tan substance was conducted by Customs and Border Patrol which yielded a positive result for the characteristics of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). Officers with the United States Customs and Border Patrol then relayed information about the seizure of this target parcel to the Special Agent DiAntonio of the Baltimore Field Office of the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations, who then relayed this information to members of the Metropolitan Area Drug Task Force. This target parcel was then forwarded to Special Agent DiAntonio at his Baltimore Field Office.

THE CHESAPEAKE TODAY All Crime All The Time

According to the information provided by TFC S. Fitzgerald, the next step in the discovery of the importing business allegedly conducted by Dake Williams, when not busy with the Quince Orchard High School wrestling team activities, was the involvement of the Metropolitan Area Drug Task Force (MADTF) and a United States Postal Inspector.

The team of investigators paid a visit to Williams at his Gaithersburg apartment, not far from where his parents live just off of Rt. 28 in Darnestown.

On Oct. 19, 2017, the squad of law officers knocked on William’s door at 12:40 pm at the apartment which is part of the Cadence at Crown Residences, which rent in the range of $1700/$2500 per month.  Williams answered the knock of the law and after the officers identified themselves and their intention to discuss the package, they had seized which was destined for him, Williams decided to invite them inside so his nosy neighbors wouldn’t be able to eavesdrop on the discussion.

After officers were inside, they took a “cursory” look around to determine if anyone else was present. During their brief tour, the trained eyes of the squad observed the typical implements of the drug distribution trade, items such as glass vials of suspected MDMA a scale with a white powdery substance of suspected MDMA, numerous Ziploc baggies containing suspected MDMhb and the same style foil Ziploc bag that contained the original 245 grams of MDMA in plain view on a computer desk located in Williams’ bedroom.

THE BIG GULP

It was at that point that the dumbfounded Williams realized that the jig was up, and he uttered the famous words, “I would like a lawyer”.

THE FIRST SEARCH WARRANT

Investigators then halted any further inquiries or probing of the den of inequity operated by Williams in the apartment and applied to a Judge for a Search and Seizure Warrant. After presenting probable cause to a Judge to have a search warrant signed, the search was conducted by officers who discovered the following:

  1. One 256 0B Apacer hard drive (SN: 13229705) bearing bar code number 2613203031 19.
  2. Two TB Western Digital hard drive bearing SN; WMC4NOH8FURH removed from the same generic desktop computer
  3. One Toshiba Satellite laptop bearing SN: 40024139S
  4. Four thumb drives: 16 GB P”; 32 0B SanDisk on green lanyard; 64 0B SanDisk on blue lanyard; 128 GB Lexar
  5. Three external hard drives: 1 TB Seagate Wireless Plus bearing SN: NA327RB8; SOO GB Western Digital external hard drive bearing SN: WXB   TB Western Digital external hard drive bearing SN: WX21EC3DNF82.
  6. One rose gold LO 05 Cellular phone

THE SECOND SEARCH WARRANT

TFC Fitzgerald stated the following on the charging documents:

“A forensic examination of the electronic evidence was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations. During the exam, child pornography was discovered to be on electronic evidence.  The examiner stopped his exam and a secondary search warrant was authored. On 08/26/2019, I was requested to review the evidence against Dake Edward Williams as it relates to the possession of child pornography.”.

“I reviewed the forensic evidence found on Dake (Williams) devices and I observed over a thousand files of child pornography and child erotica.”

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you of the arrest of Dake Williams, a former Quince Orchard High School volunteer wrestling coach. Mr. Williams is charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography. These charges, which stem from a 2017 incident, appear to be unrelated to his role as a volunteer coach. Mr. Williams served as a volunteer wrestling coach at Quince Orchard from 2015-2018.

MCPS was just made aware of Mr. Williams’ arrest. His alleged behavior is extremely concerning and these charges represent a violation of our school’s core values and the values of our Montgomery County community.

We are committed to the well-being of all of our students. A support team of school psychologists, counselors, and pupil personnel workers from MCPS will join with our staff this week to provide counseling and support to students upon request.

Ensuring a safe learning environment for our students is our top priority. If you or your child have any information that may be helpful to the investigation, I ask that you call the Montgomery
