MURDER USA: Two men and one woman found dead in murder-suicide in Burke; two Fairfax police officers wounded by a gunman
The victims of the shooting last night in Burke have been identified as Patricia Marie Bounds, 67 and Sean Patrick Bailes, 19. The deceased suspect has been identified as Marcellus William Bounds IV, 36. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting autopsies to confirm the cause and manner of death.

Fairfax Police state that the investigation to date has determined:
- All persons inside of the residence were related.
- The victims were the mother and nephew of the suspect.
- There is evidence of an apparent ongoing family issue that escalated, resulting in the suspect using deadly force upon his relatives.
- During the argument, it appears the victims fled to various parts of the home to avoid harm from the suspect.
- When the suspect found the mother in a bedroom he immediately shot her.
- The suspect then located the nephew in a bathroom and immediately shot him.
“Our Victim Services staff are supporting the victim families and our community members and our Incident Support Services staff is supporting all of our brave officers,” said Police Chief Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr. “It’s important to note the trauma all have been exposed to in this tragedy and we continue to pray for all involved as they recover for the rest of their lives.”
WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA. – Two police officers were wounded in an exchange of gunfire with a gunman when they arrived for the report of gunfire in a home on Wicklow Drive in Burke, Va., on Oct. 21, 2019.
Fairfax County Police report that their SWAT Team then invaded the home and found two men and a woman dead. One occupant of the home, a man, had escaped prior to the arrival of police and reported the mayhem being caused by a family member who was armed with a gun around and reported to police by a woman about 9:11 pm.
The Fairfax Police Major Crimes Bureau and Crime Scene detectives continue to investigate the events in the murder spree in the home in the 6100 block of Wicklow Drive.
Police say that a woman reported that a family member had threatened her with a gun.
Fairfax Police say that arriving patrol officers encountered an armed man who fired shots at them.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting autopsies to confirm the cause and manner of death. Police say that the identity of the victims will be released pending next of kin notifications.
